Canterbury Racing Tips: Wednesday, July 26th 2023
Race 3: Ole Kirk @ Vinery Stud BM72 – 2pm (AEST)
(8) VILLADEN – 4YO gelding who gets a nice drop in grade today after racing in town. Unsuccessful over this distance from 2 attempts, but hasn’t been all that far away in tougher grade. Has one win on the soft track, so is proven on these conditions. Four back he won by almost 8 lengths in Toowoomba on a soft track. Nice each way price with a nice booking of James McDonald.
(2) PHAROAHS REIGN – Early favourite who is one from one at this distance. Gets back in grade too today, looks a nice chance with a 1.5kg claim engaged. Saver bet.
(8) VILLADEN – EW
$6.50/$2.20 (1U/2U)
Race 4: Chc Powering The Chase BM64 – 2:35pm (AEST)
(1) TANGLEWOOD – Can’t fault this 3yo Gelding who has been enormous last two starts. Chasing the hattrick this outing. Won last start by 4L and the one prior by almost 6L. Up in grade and still needs to carry top weight, but secures Aaron Bullock as the jockey who is one of the top jocks.
(6) SILVANITO – 3YO who was favourite over this distance and grade and battled on to fill the minors. Gets 1.5kg off that run and still gets a wet track. More rain the better though. If track becomes heavy, I suggest he will be the bet here. Each way all day.
(1) TANGLEWOOD – Win
$2.30 (2 Units)
Race 7: Hyland Race Colours BM72 – 4:20pm (AEST)
(1) TWO BIG FARI – 7YO who has been a bit flat the last two starts, but gets easier competition here and is capable of better. Untested over this distance, but should be okay. Gets a nice 3kg claim and has an impressive record 4th up and on the soft track. Appears to be a nice roughie chance each way.
(4) LITTLE BEGINNINGS – The favourite of the race who won two on the spin by good gaps and then narrowly missed. Previous outing finished last, but was only 2L off the winner. Looks an easier affair on paper here and he will be competitive here.
Also Backing: (4) LITTLE BEGINNINGS – Win $4 (1 Unit)
(1) TWO BIG FARI – E/W
$15/$4 (0.5U/1U)
