Caulfield will host Bletchingly Stakes Day on Saturday with the Group 3 weight-for-age race giving racegoers a hint of Spring action, despite the real action being another six weeks away. The race looks a beauty too with top weight Ingratiating being slight favourite at the time of publication. The weather forecast looks okay, and gallopers should be running on a Good 4, with the first race scheduled for 12:05pm (AEST).

Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday July 22nd 2023
Race 3: Tobin Brothers Stayers Handicap - 1:15pm (AEST)
(1) Rolls for Maddi Raymond looks ready to win again after a good 3rd behind Young Werther at Flemington last week. That race looks a little stronger than this and the horse is capable on all surfaces so it doesn’t matter if the track is downgraded to Soft. Harry Grace stays on and he has won on him twice previously and will position the gelding up around midfield or slightly worse than midfield in the run. Has won over this distance before.
(3) Teewaters was 2L behind Rolls a fortnight ago but may get closer here after more fitness on his side. He has raced against Rolls on 3 occasions and has got beaten every time. Chance though.
(2) Never Again will be running on and will need to pace on. Damien Oliver sticks with him despite the moderate form lines. Interesting runner.
(4) Ferago is fitter again and will be 2nd fav here. Has never placed on the Good which is the worry.
(1) Rolls - WIN
$2.40 (3 Units)
Race 5: Royal Meeting is all class Handicap - 2:25pm (AEST)
(4) Hell Hound stays at the distance and may try to lead again here. If he gets a slow tempo he could kick this time and win at pretty good odds. He was 6th here last time but is probably 100 percent fit now after that effort. Beau Mertens is 2 from 2 on him and stays on. Putting the trust in Price & Kent here and a small bet at the odds may be worth it.
(9) Divine Diosa has drawn well in barrier 2 and has jumped out well since being freshened after a Moonee Valley last.
(2) Cuban Link was unlucky last time when trapped wide (2nd) and could go one better here. Its his 5th run in from a spell so he should be ready to fire.
(3) Daralina Belle has drawn wide but could have the last crack at them. She showed a lot of promise earlier in her career and could show it again here.
(4) Hell Hound - WIN

Race 8: Bletchingly Stakes Group 3 - 4:30pm (AEST)
(1) Ingratiating was favourite in the Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes at this track a fortnight ago and was poor when 5th but I am picking him again simply because he is the best horse in the race. He will settle midfield and may have to creep into this race a little earlier here as there doesn’t seem to be much pace up front. I also think he likes Good tracks better as well so he won't want any rain overnight.
(2) General Beau is similar to the toppy. He likes Good tracks and will settle around midfield. His Caulfield form is very good having won here on 3 occasions and he was very good when beaten a lip by Sigh ar Flemington 2 starts back.
(5) Mnementh is racing very well at present and may try and lead again like he did when he won at Flemington last time down the straight.
(6) Its’sourtime hasn’t won here in 6 attempts which is a slight query. IS definitely good enough and can put in a good sprint late.
(1) Ingratiating - WIN
$4 (3 Units)
Race 9: Catanach’s Jewellers Handicap - 4:52pm (AEST)
(1) St Lawrence is second up and has drawn very well in barrier 2 for Carlee Hefel who is riding very well. He has won 5 from 6 starts now including a good win at this track on June 24. He drew wide that day (11) and you would think with this draw and more fitness, he should be very hard to beat again.
(2) Turbeau will be getting home late and is the blow out hope if they go too fast in front.
(4) El Rocko has drawn poorly in 14 but did race well without luck last start when 6th at this track (beaten only 1.5L).
(9) Cardigan Queen will have her admirers after getting there by a head at Hillside on May 27. Has jumped out well since.
(1) St Lawrence - WIN
$2.80 (3 Units)
