AFL Round 15 Preview & Betting Tips
St Kilda vs Brisbane
Marvel Stadium, Friday 7.50pm (AEST)
The Saints are coming off a disappointing loss in wet conditions to the Tigers in Round 14. After kicking the first four goals of the game, the Saints gave up that lead before the quarter time break, trailing the Tigers by 10 points at the first break.
In a back and forth battle where scoring proved difficult due to the rain, the Tigers ran out 20 point winners at the MCG, despite valiant efforts from Brad Crouch, Jack Sinclair and Brad Hill, who all recorded over 30 touches.
The Saints got through the game unscathed and will providing they do again this week, they could have some decisions to make at the selection table next week, with Dan McKenzie, Jack Billings and Zak Jones all set to play for Sandringham on Saturday.
The Lions squared off against the Swans in Brisbane on Friday night of Round 14. The Swans got out to an early lead in the game a five to two goal 2nd quarter from the Lions saw them take a lead into the main break, one that they would maintain for the rest of the game.
Star midfielder Lachie Neale was impressive for the Lions, racking up 29 touches while running mate Josh Dunkley had 28. It was Zac Bailey that proved to be the difference for the Lions though, as the attacking midfielder accumulated 26 touches and booted two goals in a best on ground performance.
The Lions could be bolstered by the return of two key pieces this week, with midfielders Dayne Zorko and Hugh McCluggage both needing to pass a fitness test to line-up.
The Lions start as slight favourites on the road, and despite a loss for the Saints last week, I think the smaller line of just 3.5 is accurate given St Kilda will be back on their preferred Marvel Stadium deck. They have been much better under the roof and won’t have to contend with any extreme weather this week.
Having said that, I’m leaning slightly towards the Lions here. I think they are in better form at the moment and the potential inclusions of McClugage and Zorko will be tough to deal with for a Saints midfield that has been losing the contested battle in recent weeks.
The dynamic Brisbane forward line might also give the undersized Saints defence some trouble. Back the Lions to cover the 3.5 point line here.

Under 178.5 - Like the unders to start with the Saints back under the roof. They have been one of the best defences in the league this season and they ramp that up to another level on the smaller dimensions of Marvel. They have allowed just 61 points per game in six games at Marvel this season.
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera 20+ Disposals - We are taking the young Saint to have 20+ again this week. He has cleared this mark in six of his last seven games and his last four on the trot.
Lachi Neale 25+ Disposals - Neale has been one of the top accumulators in the league this season and has cleared the 25 disposal mark in his last five games in a row.
