Happy Valley Racing Tips – Wednesday, June 7th 2023
Race 2: Ng Fong Hcp C5 1200m – 21:15 (AEST)
(12) Heavenly Thought is one of the lower-rated horses in Hong Kong but did find some solid form a few starts ago. He’s got a light weight and has run good minor placings over this trip before. One more shot with him here at e/w odds.
(3) Theta Hedge is the better horse on paper but may struggle to overcome a fast tempo here as he likes to sit handy in his races. If that pace doesn’t eventuate he’s the most likely winner.
(1) Happy Gathering sets up most ideally on the speed map in this race. Gate 3 with Hugh Bowman will suit perfectly as the horse looks to bounce back out of C5 just as quickly as he fell into it.
(12) Heavenly Thought - E/W

Race 4: Public Acc. 50th Anniv Cup C4 1200m – 22:15 (AEST)
(2) Snowalot was 4th in the same race as Cheer For South last time after getting back in the run. He’s drawn gate 5 but has 3 runners under him who will contest the lead. Should be able to slot in nicely and take advantage of a strong tempo up front to go better than he did last time.
(1) The Runner is one of the leaders drawn low here and comes into C4 where he’s had great success. Zac Purton is aboard and the horse and should get it into the finish provided there isn’t too much early pressure.
(5) Melbourne Hall can also benefit off a predicted fast tempo here and is a nice e/w price if that’s the approach you’re taking with this race. A few better horses but could set up nicely for this one.
(2) Snowalot - E/W

Race 7: Sam Chuk Handicap C3 1800m – 23:15 (AEST)
(1) Rocket Spade still hasn’t won a race this prep. I’m beginning to think he’s cursed with how well he has been going given he just can’t seem to win. Meaningful Star beat him last time and won again since. Should be winning this.
(3) Majestic Victory is drawn much better than he has been in recent attempts. Zac Purton also takes the ride so there’s plenty of reasons to suggest this horse will improve tonight.
(12) Satirical Glory is slowly getting to the stage where he can be considered a relative threat in some of these races. He may need the class drop but shouldn’t be too far away here regardless.
