Ladbrokes Park (Lakeside) will host Saturday Racing with a highly competitive card on offer for punters to enjoy. Race one gets underway at 12:25pm, and I have a selection in that one, with the last of the day finishing off at 5:20pm. The track will likely be a Soft 7 with a fine day predicted.
Let’s get stuck into my best bets for Saturday’s racing at Sandown!
Sandown Racing Tips – Saturday, April 15th 2023
Race 1
(2) El Patroness was beaten comfortably last start but is better than that and deserves another chance here. She has a wide barrier to contend with in 11 but she is down in class and she has Jye McNeil on which is a plus. Her Soft form is pretty good and she has won 2 races in Listed class previously which is harder than this. Her last start was in a Group 1 and she will appreciate this assignment.
(1) Beltoro is racing very well now after not having much luck in the Spring. He won easily last start and is a big chance of starting fav in this. She is capable on the Soft but won't want rain on the day.
(3) Wil John will be better in a few weeks but is a good horse and may sneak a placing in this. He has won 10 of 25 but he will need further.
(7) Tobaysure won well last start and the ATB owned gelding will have his admirers again in this. Barrier 1 may help but this is harder.
(2) El Patroness - WIN
$2.30 (3 Units)
Race 2
(1) Megamea was fair when 7th first up. She was only beaten 1.5L and will be fitter now and the distance rise will suit. She has won 2 races 2nd up previously and the Cranbourne jumpouts would have helped the fitness levels. She will probably settle around 5th on the outside and get a good crack at them from the 400m.
(3) Intellective will be one of the strongest to the line late and with the track drying out a bit on Friday, that will help even further. She hasn’t won in her last 10 starts but she has placed in 65 percent of her career starts.
(4) Good and Proper is another who will run on well late and is fitter here. She likes this distance and has won at this track before.
(5) Star of Chaos will be on speed and gets her 2nd look at the track here after winning previously on this circuit. Dean Holland has won twice on this horse before and she should run well again.
(1) Megamea - WIN
$4.20 (2 Units)
Race 5
*SCRATCHED* (9) Running By ran on well and almost scored at Bendigo last start and she is expected to run well again here. Not many horses were coming from behind last start so watching how the track plays early in the day might be the key to this horse’s chances. She is fitter now and this her first time on this surface. Ben Allen has ridden her before and will be better on here for the 2nd time here.
(4) Toronto Terrier was unlucky at The Valley last start when 4th but only beaten half a length. This track should be better for him but it is his first time on the Soft. Trialed well behind White Marlin 2 weeks ago who subsequently won last week.
(3) Russian Dancer has placed in every start this prep but this is a little harder here. This is harder but he should get a nice run settling around midfield.
(2) Bel Air won well last start after being well supported and he has proven he can win on Soft ground. Michael Dee is on for the first time.
Race 8
(2) Chartres has drawn well in 3 and has Beau Mertens on for the first time. He has not placed in his last 10 starts but is better than that but it probably is his last chance for me in this race. He was backed to win at Bairnsdale last start in the Cup and wasn’t too far away when 5th after running on quite well. At 18-1 he is probably worth a throw at the stumps for one last time. 100 percent fit now and he will be running on.
(7) Milton Park has drawn inside and may be able to save ground in this race. He is better on the Good ground so won't want any rain on Friday or Saturday.
(3) So Si Bon just keeps on keeping on and is the main danger. He is not that Good on the Soft but obviously is a bulldog and has talent.
(4) Teewaters has drawn wide but has jumped out well at Horsham recently. Naught from 3 first up.
(5) Pinstriped is the best horse in this race and fair game if he does blow them away.
(2) Chartres - Each-way
$18/$5 (1 Unit)
