Ladbrokes Park (Lakeside) will host midweek thoroughbred racing on a track surface we haven’t seen in quite a while, a Soft 5.
It's the twilight timeslot once again and gallopers will be racing from race one which starts at 3:05pm.

Sandown Racing Tips – Wednesday, March 8th 2023
Race 2
(5) He’s On Form is in form and has been in the placings 9 of 14 starts to date for Patrick Payne. He was 4th at the 400m mark at Ararat and closed off nicely for 2nd and the extra distance here will suit. Before that he was probably too far back at Benalla when 3rd. Michael Dee hops on this time and he will be hard to beat.
(3) Savvy Valentino is in poor form but is better than most of these when right. The blinkers are back off and he just needs a bit of luck to be in the placings again. He has won 4 races on Good tracks so won’t want any rain on the day/.
(2) Prince Ziggy for Jamie Edwards was unplaced behind So Unusual last start at Hillside and that race is harder than this. Since then So Unusual has won in Saturday grade.
(6) The Midnight Shift gets Craig Williams on top and he has won 3 races on Good ground so would like an upgrade which is a chance if there is no rain on Tuesday.
(5) He’s On Form - WIN
$3.60 (2 Units)
Race 3
*SCRATCHED* (3) Proscenium Arch is back in grade after running in the Group 3 Vanity at Flemington and is fitter now. She gets Blake Shinn on again and she has drawn nicely in 5. She has won second up previously and she may be able to lead this field.
(4) Skinny Dip is fit and has been racing well at The Valley. Jamie Mott stays on and he will likely settle handy again in this one.
(1) Ebony King has drawn a little wide in 9 for Jordan Childs so may have to use a bit of energy early to get up on pace where he likes to be. He has placed here twice previously and the Graheme Begg stable is in fine form at present.
(5) Tapa Capall has drawn the inside barrier and is back again after a 10-month spell. He has had quite a few jumpouts in readiness for this and does go well on Good tracks.
(3) Proscenium Arch - WIN

Race 6
(4) Boss Queen has drawn well in 4 and Gavin Bedgood has this mare going pretty well. She hasn’t been defeated too far when placing in her last two starts and when 2nd at Hillside she would have won with another 50m. She is on the quick back up from last Wednesday and she would prefer it if there is no rain on Tuesday night.
(2) Kaliuwaa Falls should be fully fit after three runs in and he has won over this distance previously.
(7) Awol is having his first try on Soft going but did seem to handle it in the Avova jumpouts a month ago. May try to settle in the top couple in this.
(10) Ivan’s Hero stuck on quite well for 4th at The Valley last start and before that won well at Kilmore.
(4) Boss Queen - WIN
$4.50 (2 Units)
Race 8
*SCRATCHED* (8) Eagles Crag has drawn a little awkwardly in 10 but he does have very good 2nd up form and Blake Shinn is on which is a positive. He was 4th behind Here to Shock and Munhamek last start and the latter won on Saturday in town. He has placed in all starts on Soft ground and his closing sectionals last start suggest he will be running home well in this one.
(6) Chartres is a horse we took last time in Saturday grade and he was pretty plain running 14th. That was a lot harder so we will see if he improves on the Soft ground. Better than a double figure chance.
(9) Sandy Prince loves Soft tracks and was only beaten half a length at Morphettville last start.
(10) Anilla won three in a row before running 7th at The Valley last start. First try on the Soft and Michael Dee hops back on.
(8) Eagles Crag - WIN
