NBA Betting Tips: Thursday January 12th
Indiana Pacers at New York Knicks
Madison Square Garden, 11:30am AEDT
The Knicks and the Pacers will meet for the second time this season and the first time in New York. The Knicks took the honours in Indiana in December in a 109-106 grind.
Things went pear-shaped for the Knicks after that win against the Pacers – they’ve gone on to lose six of their 11 games since. In contrast, the Pacers have been flying of late, winning eight of their last 10 games.
On the back of recent form, the Pacers (23-18) now hold a better record than the Knicks (22-19), and they’ll be confident that their current level of play is good enough to avenge their loss a couple of weeks ago.
As long as they perform as well as they have in recent weeks, the Pacers are every chance to cause the upset and cover the spread in the process.

Houston Rockets at Sacramento Kings
Golden 1 Center, 2pm AEDT
The Rockets travel to Sacramento in the type of form we all expect from them in what’s an obvious tank year for the organisation. They’ve now lost seven in a row and 12 of their last 13 games.
Meanwhile, the Kings were huge winners against the Magic last start in a necessary bounce back game after two devastating home losses in a row.
The Kings have been consistently competitive for the entire season and are yet to lose a game by more than 20 points, which is something that not many other teams can say.
They’ve also defended home court at a high level (12-9) and welcome a Rockets outfit that have the second worst road record (4-16) in the entire NBA.
It’s hard to pick any positives out of the Rockets play in recent weeks and as such, I’m keen to back the Kings in to give them the business on Thursday.
Sacramento Kings -8.5

Phoenix Suns at Denver Nuggets
Ball Arena, 2pm AEDT
The Suns secured a rare win on Tuesday when they overcame huge odds ($6.25) to get the better of the complacent Warriors on the road. That win was just their second from their last 11 games in what’s been a nightmare stretch for last campaigns best regular season team.
Injuries have absolutely destroyed the Suns this season and there won’t be any let up on Thursday. They’ll likely be without all of Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Cam Johnson, Cam Payne, and Deandre Ayton.
The Nuggets had to deal with more than their fair share of injuries last season but are finally getting a good run at it this campaign – touch wood. Jamal Murray has returned from injury in fantastic form and Michael Porter Jr. is also playing solid basketball.
If both teams were at full health, then this would have the makings of a cracking game, but that just isn’t anywhere near the case.
On the second leg of a road back-to-back, playing at altitude against the best home team in the league, I expect the Suns to find this task incredibly difficult and for this to be all one-way traffic in favour of the Nuggets.
Denver Nuggets -11.5
