Ladbrokes Park (Sandown Hillside) gets a rare opportunity to host a Saturday meeting this week with nine races scheduled.
Runners will gallop on a Good 4 surface in predicted 23 degrees sunshine.
One of my best bets comes up in the first race, a two-year-old from the Hayes stable.

Sandown Racing Tips: Saturday, December 10th
Race 1
(3) Cantolago is a debutant who jumped out well on November 25 on a Good track at Flemington. Craig Williams takes the ride for start one and i think this one might start favourite on the day. The Hayes team are good trainers of two-year-olds, and the owners are part of the Lindsay Park Bloodstock ownership who are very successful.
(2) Ouroborus is a colt who cost $200,000 for the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr team. The stable is going well, and this boy has won both of his jumpouts.
(5) Down Low is the stablemate of my second selection and also cost $200,000. He was second to Ouroborus in their most recent jumpout.
(8) Serasana cost $400,000 for its owners and did win a Cranbourne jumpout on November 7.
(3) Cantolago WIN
$2.80 (3 Units)
Race 4
(10) Arktika has been scratched a couple of times over the last few weeks and the Maher & Eustace stable is waiting for the right conditions to strike with this one. She did resume on a Soft track for a fifth at Flemington but she is better on this ground where she has won two from four before. On resumption she was beaten less than a length behind Matron Bullwinkel and that horse does go pretty well so that's good form for a race like this.
(4) Baretta will get back but does have a powerful finish. He was beaten a nose on the Lakeside circuit last start, and he is another who has won two from four on this surface.
(11) Oceana Blue was a successful favourite when winning at Lakeside last start. This is harder and barrier 11 is not ideal. Will need cover.
(8) Tasman Park is an unknown on dry tracks but has had market support his last couple of starts.
(10) Arktika WIN
$3.00 (2 Units)
Race 5
(4) Detonator Jack for the Maher & Eustace team drops six kilos after running second at Ballarat last time. He returns with 54kg, a weight he won with at Flemington on Cup Day for Johnny Allen. The rise in distance should suit and he has had a handy jumpout run at Ararat leading up to this assignment. Harry Coffey takes the ride this time on a track which should be ideal. Last start Green Fly just got him by a nose, but I think he can turn it around this time.
(7) Green Fly rises in distance and will be running on again but I think Jack will be tougher in front this time. He also may be better on rain-affected ground, but he is still a clear second pick.
(9) Pounding returns to a dry track which is a bonus and does drop weight with Carleen Hefel on board.
(5) Flash Aah has an inside barrier for Craig Newitt and gets the blinkers on again. He is the value runner in the field. The blinkers are on, and this race is a little easier than some of his Spring ones.
(4) Detonator Jack WIN
$1.85 (4 Units)
Race 8
(12) Mac ‘n’ Cheese was given a big chance last start but failed to fire after being tardy away. Back to 1400m is the key for this mare I think, and the firm track should help again. She does have a good finish on her so should appreciate the long Sandown Hillside straight. Her third at Flemington on Cup day was very good where she went from 12th to a placing in the last 400m.
(13) Kettle Hill is having his first start in Australia for the Maher and Eustace stable and must be kept safe.
(6) Savannah Cloud is going for three in a row after winning at The Valley last start on a Soft 5. This is harder but you can't fault the way he is racing. Will settle around fourth and get another nice run.
(3) He’s Our Bonneval remains at the 1400m and if Detonator Jack wins earlier on during the program, his form will look even better.
(12) Mac ‘n’ Cheese WIN
$8.50 (1 Unit)
