Gold Coast vs Geelong Betting Tips
Metricon Stadium, Saturday 13th August, 4:35pm (AEST)
Gold Coast
Injuries: Charlie Ballard, Connor Budarick, Joel Jeffrey, Ben King, Woll Powell Bodhi Uwland, Lachie Weller (Out)
Gold Coast are without a couple of key players at either end of the ground for their two remaining matches. Charlie Ballard and Connor Budarick are important defenders who are unavailable, while Joel Jeffrey and Ben King are two tall forwards they’d also love to have out there.
The Suns needed to win against the Hawks last weekend to remain a mathematical chance of making the top eight for the first time in club history, but it wasn’t to be as they went down by seven points in Tasmania despite coming home with a wet sail. The Suns just haven’t been able to find their best form consistently enough in the second half of the season, securing just 2 wins from their last seven outings. Regardless, it’s been a solid step forward for Stewy Dew’s men in 2022.
Geelong
Injuries: Cooper Stephens, Shannon Neale, Cooper Whyte, Flynn Kroeger, Jon Ceglar (Out)
Geelong probably have the healthiest list in the competition entering Round 22, which is a surprise when you consider the average age of their key personnel. Jon Ceglar is the only player missing who’s arguably in their best 22 when fully fit, although we’ve barely seen him at all this campaign.
The Cats looked as though they had their hands full in the first half against the Saints last weekend, however, they put on the afterburners in the second half and outscored the Saints 57-22 en route to another comfortable victory in front of their home fans. The Cats have now won 11 matches on the spin which clearly makes them the form team of the competition. They’re nearly certain to finish the home and away season on top of the ladder and will have the luxury of resting some key players next weekend if that’s the route they want to go down.
Match Prediction
With the Suns now officially out of the race for finals, it remains to be seen what sort of motivation levels they’ll bring to this contest against the rampaging Cats. In saying that, even if they brought their best footy and put in a four-quarter performance, it’s likely they will still end up on the losing side here. Simply put, the Cats are far too strong for the Suns at this point of the season, and they should be winning this one comfortably.

Prop Bets
The Cats have improved their scoring power this season, but it hasn’t necessarily hampered their ability to defend. In fact, they’ve been the third stingiest team in terms of points conceded this season and I’m expecting another strong defensive display in this one.
Gold Coast Under 65.5 Points ($1.87 at Ladbrokes)
Jeremy Cameron is second in the race for the Coleman Medal with two matches remaining and gets an easy matchup this week against the Suns defence. If they get a solid lead in this match like we’re all expecting, then I can see him getting a lot of ball directed his way in the second half to help him get on the end of a couple of goals.
Jeremy Cameron 3+ Goals ($1.98 at Ladbrokes)
Tyson Stengle continues to hit the scoreboard as a small forward for the Cats. He’s kicked multiple goals in 12 of his last 16 matches and remains good odds to kick at least two more goals on Saturday night.
Tyson Stengle 2+ goals ($1.85 at Ladbrokes)
