AFL Port Adelaide vs Carlton Betting Tips
Adelaide Oval, Saturday 14th August 4:35pm (AEST)
Port Adelaide will be looking to continue their dominance over Carlton with another win against them in Round 22. With home ground advantage also on their side, the Power will start as the overwhelming favourites to claim their 16th win of the season.
Match Prediction
Port Adelaide made it extremely tough on themselves against Adelaide in the Showdown last weekend when they trailed by three goals at half time; however, the cream rose to the top in the second half and the Power went onto win by four points, securing their 15th win of the season to stay within two points of top spot on the ladder.
Carlton had their finals hopes destroyed in Round 21 in an embarrassing performance against Gold Coast. With everything to play for and with home ground advantage on their side, the Blues couldn’t match it with the 14th placed Suns and now have the whole off-season to ponder it. As it stands, the Blues are in 13th spot on the ladder with eight wins to their name.
The Power almost have a full list to pick from at the moment, which certainly hasn’t been the case for the bulk of the season. Out of the usual starters, only Hamish Hartlett, Steven Motlop and Trent McKenzie will miss this weekend through injury. In contrast, the Blues have been ravaged by injuries of late and now have up to six walk-up starters forced on the sidelines. Headlining the pack of players unavailable are Zac Williams, Liam Jones, Sam Docherty and Harry McKay.
Port Adelaide are set to start at around six-goal favourites for this home fixture and that seems about right considering the Blues are decimated by injuries and now have little to play for. Playing the Power to cover the spread is certainly an option here, but we prefer taking the Blues to fall under their current total points line of 63.5 points. It was already going to be tough for the Blues to kick a big score against a Power side that has conceded the fourth fewest points this season, but the loss of Harry McKay has made the task a hell of a lot tougher.

Same Game Multi
Due to how we see this match unfolding, we’ll be looking to Power players to build our three-leg Same Game Multi. For the first leg we’ll be taking Travis Boak to collect 25+ disposals, which he’s been able to do in 17 of the 19 matches he’s played this season. For the second leg we’ll be including Zak Butters to kick a goal at any time. Butters has been splitting his time between forward and midfield since returning since injury and should get a couple of looks at goal in this one. Finally, we’ll be taking Orazio Fantasia to kick 2+ goals, which he’s done in seven of the 12 games for the Power this season.
