AFL Hawthorn vs Western Bulldogs Betting Tips
UTAS, Saturday 14th August 1:45pm (AEST)
The Hawks will be looking to make it three straight wins for the first time this season when they host the Bulldogs at UTAS. However, the Bulldogs have been the far better team this season and will start as the very short-priced favourites on Saturday afternoon.
Match Prediction
Hawthorn were too good for Collingwood last weekend in a battle between two bottom four sides. That win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks for the first time all season, which is a pretty damning stat. Regardless, the Hawks come into this weekend with 10 points secured from their last four games, which shows they’re in some decent form as we enter the final two rounds of the season.
Western Bulldogs were outworked by Essendon in their most recent outing and were on the wrong end of a 13-point margin. The Bulldogs were in control at quarter time, but they had no answer for Peter Wright after the first break and ended up suffering their fifth loss of the season, which saw them cough up top spot on the ladder.
A number of key Hawks won’t feature in the last two games of the season with all of Jack Dunston, Jarman Impey, Changkuoth Jiath, James Sicily, Will Day and Luke Bruest ruled out. For the Bulldogs, Josh Bruce will have an extended period on the sidelines after tearing his ACL in the dying moments of his side’s loss to the Bombers on the weekend. Besides Bruce, Stefan Martin is really the only key player currently missing through injury.
The Bulldogs have been victorious in each of their last two games against the Hawks, including a 36-point wire-to-wire win against them in their most recent clash. If anything, the gap between these sides has only grown bigger since then, so we’re expecting another really comfortable win for the Bulldogs to kick off this juicy five-game slate on Saturday.

Same Game Multi
There’s plenty of value in the player prop markets for this clash, which has enabled us to put together a really solid three-leg Same Game Multi. For the first leg we’ll be taking Taylor Duryea for 15+ disposals. The running half-back has covered that mark in 17/19 games this season and remains good value. Secondly, we’ll be taking Marcus Bontempelli for 25+ disposals, which he’s been able to do in 15 of his last 16 games. Finally, for our value leg we’ll be backing in Cody Weightman to jag at least two goals. He missed last weekend due to injury but has had a fantastic second season in the system averaging 1.6 goals a game. We expect him to get plenty of looks on Saturday going up the pecking order with Josh Bruce out, coupled with the fact that the Hawks have conceded the third most total points this season.
