AFL Hawthorn vs Collingwood Tips
UTAS, Sunday 8th August 2:10pm (AEST)
Both Hawthorn and Collingwood have been disappointing this season, but both come into this off impressive wins in their most recent outings. There’s nothing between them in the head-to-head market at the time of writing, with both clubs hovering around the $1.90 mark to get the chocolates.
Match Prediction
Hawthorn played inspired footy against Brisbane last weekend and were able to cause an upset in the end via a 92-80 score-line. That was the Hawks third win from eight games since their Round 12 bye, which is certainly an improvement from the first half of the season. Regardless, the Hawks look destined for a bottom four finish this year.
Collingwood also recorded an unlikely win in their most recent outing when destroying West Coast by 45 points last weekend. It was the Magpies second win from their last four games in what’s been a solid month of football for them. Still, that won’t change the fact that they’re a long way off competing in finals and will likely finish in 14th or worse position this year.
The Hawks are one of the more inexperienced teams in the league and that hasn’t been helped from the number of injuries to their key players this season. Out for the rest of the season are all of Luke Breust, Will Day, Jack Gunston, James Sicily, Jarman Impey and Changkuoth Jiath. For the Magpies, both Brown brothers are out for the remainder of the year, as are superstars Darcy Moore and Scott Pendlebury.
Both teams come into this off surprise wins last weekend, which sets up an interesting matchup on Sunday afternoon. It’s anyone’s guess as to what team will turn up and play their best footy in this clash, so we’ll be steering clear of the head-to-head market. Instead, we like the chances of the total points falling under the current line of 158.5 points. Both teams lack firepower up forward and are each missing some of their best ball users going inside forward 50, which should end up making this game a bit of a slugfest.

Same Game Multi
We kick off the four-game slate of AFL action on Saturday with a Same Game Multi we’re really happy with. For the first of our three legs we’ll be taking the red-hot Jordan De Goey for 25+ disposals. Since being injected into the midfield six weeks ago, De Goey has averaged 30.5 disposals per game and has had at least 25 in all six. Secondly, we’ll be taking Tom Mitchell to accumulate at least 30 disposals, which he’s done in six of his last eight games (has had 29 twice during that span). Finally, we’ll be including Chad Wingard to kick a goal at any time as our value leg. Wingard kicked two goals against the Lions last weekend and has kicked at least one in four of his last five games.
