Royal Randwick hosts a 10-race card on Saturday with no standout feature race, but Race 8 the James Squire BM100 being the best quality race. The first race commences at 12:30pm AEDT and the last concludes at 5:55pm AEDT. The rail is out 3m and conditions are set to be GOOD. Shannon Buckley provides his best bets for the card below!
Royal Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, December 21st 2024
Race 5: Petaluma BM72 – 1300m – 2:50pm (AEDT)
(1) Dawn Service $3.30: Resuming 3YO colt who won some handy races last time in and boasts a handy little record. Returns with a couple of trials under his belt and tackles 1300m where is is a proven winner and second place getter from the two attempts. Rates well with a 3kg claim and looks the one to beat. Draws well, therefore should get a handy run in transit.
(4) Codetta $10.00/$2.80: 3YO Filly who has won her last three and is looking to make this three in a row for this prep. She is climbing through the ranks nicely and deserves a crack here. 2kg claim puts her in nicely and id expect her to be hard fit third up. Value pick.
(10) Diddle Dumpling $6.50/$2.20: 3YO filly who has had a small freshen up and then trialed last week which was handy. Top jockey rides and is every chance.

Race 8: James Squire BM100– 1400m - 4:40pm (AEDT)
(1) Palmetto $11.00/$3.00: 6YO gelding who looks to be one the best value picks of the day. He is resuming and gets in nicely at the weights as a 102 rater. He has had 2 trials leading up to this and they were both handy. Proven first up and 1400m looks doable with the two trials for his first up affair. Each way.
(6) Snowman $17.00/$4.00: 4YO gelding who has mixed his form, but on his day he has been matching it with some classy types. Returns as a gelding now, so keen to see how he goes now being gelded. Has trialled and is worth a small play at the price.
(8) Uzziah $3.70: The favourite of the race who hasn’t had much early market support, but is clearly talented. Pulled up lame last start, so probably prefer to watch on his return. Prior to that he was racing well and will take catching if he is back fit.

Race 9: Toyota Forklifts BM94 – 1100m - 5:20pm (AEDT)
(1) Our Kobison $4.40: 5YO gelding who was terrific last start in much tougher affair and is a very talented type. He gets in nicely with Molly Bourke in the saddle claiming two. He draws a handy gate and will only be fitter again. This looks another winnable race on his day.
(7) In Flight $5.00: 4YO mare who was handy enough first up and hit the line nicely. He remains at 1100m where he is 50% success rate from 8 outings. He gets a nice weight swing on Our Kobison who beat him first up by less than a length. Only concern is the sticky gate now.
(8) Time To Boogie $4.20: Resuming 5yo gelding who has a terrific first up record. Honest type who will give punters another run for their money. Main danger.
