The rail is True and conditions are set to be SOFT. Shannon Buckley brings you his three best bets for the day at Royal Randwick below!
Royal Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, December 14th 2024
Race 8: The Ingham – 1600m – 4:40pm (AEDT)
(1) Private Eye $10.00/$3.10: 7YO Gelding who is nothing but class and has been racing at top level for quite some time and finally got back into the winners list last start when Nash pushed him home. Nash stays on and now that he’s back into the winners stall he can go on with it. Each way.
(2) Gringotts $3.90: 5YO who oozes class and is unbeaten over this trip from 4 attempts. She gets a handy draw and will be the one to beat again. Loves the soft track and will be awfully hard to beat. Main danger.
(3) Port Lockroy $10.00/$3.20: 4YO who had been racing consistently and then travelled over to WA for the Group 1 Railway stakes last start and went whooshka to win comfortably. Returns to Sydney now and will be full of confidence. Each way.
(2) Gringotts
$3.90 (2 Units)
Race 9: Racing & Sports Razor Sharp Hcp– 1200m - 5:20pm (AEDT)
(3) Eagle Nest $11.00/$3.00: 5YO Mare who was handy first up over 1100m, but tired late and lacked a bit of fitness. Second up was much better and she was dominant from start to finish winning by over a length. Fitter again now and must be considered, but is disadvantaged with weight against some others who have been matching it or going better then her previously.
(5) Hedged $3.50: 4YO who returned nicely and was only a length behind HEADWALL first up. Previous form behind Joliestar reads well for this too. Yet to win over this trip, but loves the soft track so must be included.
(8) Jedibeel $6.50/$2.10: 5YO Gelding who was terrific first up storming home and only missing behind DRAGONSTONE. Second up run is a forgive run where he got caught wide throughout and then loomed down the outside, but race shape was against and he tired late after being 3 Wide the trip, meets the winner, EAGLE NEST again who won that race and gets a nice weight swing. (Beat EAGLE NEST first up run too) From that first up run, DRAGONSTONE has since gone on to run second in the Warra behind HEADWALL and beat HEDGED there too (Fav here) Form ties in well. We see a better draw today and can expect to get a nice run midfield with cover allowing him to save his energy and show that great TOF down the straight. Twice placed over 1200m and loves the soft track, so happy to be on third up at an each way price.
(8) Jedibeel E/W
$6.50/$2.10 (1U/3U)
Race 10: Saddles At Mount White BM78 – 1200m - 5:55pm (AEDT)
(3) Eye Of The Fire $4.80: Chasing a hattrick of wins and most recent win was terrific coming down the outside to win nicely. Both wins have been impressive and meets similar opponents again, but gets 3kg on her back now. Main danger.
(6) Ningaloo Star $35.00/$7.50 :5YO Mare who was terrific 3 and 4 runs back in similar grade and now gets back onto a Soft track where she does her best work. She gets 3.5kg off her back from last start, but remains at BM78 grade. Draws 2 and maps perfectly to lead and dictate the race to her liking which is where majority of her wins come from. If things go right and the track remains soft she is a big blow out hope.
(9) Jewellery $5.50: 5YO Mare who was well supported first up at Rosehill and it was an absolute horror watch for punters when she got held up badly down the straight with nowhere to go. Once clear, it was too late to make a run. She had plenty of horse left and only finished 2.5L off the winner. Meets the winner again here, but gets a 3kg weight swing in her favour. Draws wide and will most likely have to settle at the rear again, but with a little more luck id hope she can peel to the outside and reel them in down the straight. Fitter again second up and will have plenty of followers again.
(9) Jewellery
