We’ve got another good day of winter’s day of racing all around the country with strong meetings at Flemington and Randwick.
Billy Bestford has cast his eye across the meetings and has found his best bets to help you have a fill up this Saturday.
Horse Racing Tips: Saturday, July 17th
Randwick Race 2
Sticking with (2) Anethole again here after a luckless run last start in an 1100m highway at Rosehill. He’s been in flying form and with a bit of luck should be going close to breaking through this prep. Keen to see him to 1200m now where he has a strong record and the wet conditions should be no issues.
Flemington Race 1
Was very keen to follow (1) Aktolgali wherever he went following last start. Made up a stack of ground late and was a real eye catcher here over 1600 behind some handy types. That was following an impressive maiden win over the mile also, which makes me think he looks ready for this trip now. Looks a very good winning chance.
Flemington Race 3
It paid to stick strong with (7) Lindhout last start after she reeled off the quickest final 200m of the entire meeting two back and was simply too good here a couple of weeks ago. Hoping Hefel can keep her out of trouble and with clear running I expect her to be winning again. Beat most of these comfortably here last start.
Flemington Race 4
(3) Furrion has gone straight in the blackbook following his two runs this prep. Looks to have regained some of the form which saw him compete in some elite races earlier in his career. Have been keen to follow him once he got out to 2000m and now looks ready to win 3rd up. Late sectionals have been good in latest two runs and has an outstanding 3rd up record.
Randwick Race 6
Been keen to follow (6) Just Field after his very impressive run for 2nd last start in the inaugural Midway behind Our Bellagio Miss. He reeled off some of the day’s quickest sectionals and hardly saw clear running until the final 100m. He bolted under a hold in a trial leading into that run and clearly he is airborne. Hoping Parr can find a good spot from barrier 4 and if he can get him into the open nice and early, will take plenty of beating.
