It’s not the most super of Saturdays this week in the AFL, with the bye rounds reducing the number of games from the standard five to just three. The action gets underway from 1.45pm with the Swans taking on the Saints at the SCG.
AFL Sydney vs St Kilda Betting Tips
SCG, Saturday 5th June 1.45pm (AEST)
It’s been a tumultuous season for the Saints to date but they can regain some much needed momentum with a win in Round 12 over the Swans on the road. For Sydney, a win will help them stay in touch with the top four.
Match Prediction
The Saints had a great chance to pile on some much needed points and boost their percentage on the weekend against the Roos but a poor last quarter saw them beat the bottom side in the competition by just 20 points. The win won’t exactly be inspiring for Saints fan, but they get another chance to impress and keep in touch with the top eight this weekend.
The Swans have been the surprise packet of the 2021 season so far, maintaining a 7-4 record through the opening 11 games and coming off an impressive win over the Blues in Round 11. Lance Franklin was impressive, kicking three goals in the win and showing glimpses of a former self at times.
The Swans have a fantastic looking injury list at the moment. Only Errol Gulden, Sam Reid and Braeden Campbell are missing from their best 22 this weekend, giving them an incredibly strong squad to choose from. The same can’t be said for the Saints, who are still without ruckman Rowan Marshall, along with Jade Gresham, Jake Carlisle, Ben Paton, Dean Kent, Zak Jones, Dan Hannebery and Daniel McKenzie. They could get James Frawley and Hunter Clark back this week to strengthen the back-line.
The Swans start as favourites here and deservedly so given how poor the Saints have been against top eight sides this year. They have already lost games by 50+ to the likes of Richmond, Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs and come up against another in-form side here on the road.
The Saints were victorious over the Swans last year when they met at the Gabba in the COVID-19 affected season. Before that, however, they had not beaten the Swans in their previous 13 attempts, and they have only won 2 of their last 15 games at the SCG. I think the Swans win here but I think the Saints can make a game of it, expect a similar result to when the Saints played Geelong a few weeks ago.

Same Game Multi
Tim Membrey has been the go-to guy in the Saints forward line over the last few weeks. He has booted two goals in each of the last three games, taking his season tally to 16 through 11 games. Back him to kick at least one against his old side on Saturday.
The remaining two legs in our same game multi are Luke Dunstan to have 20+ disposals and Jake Lloyd to have 25+. Dunstan finally got his chance in the seniors last week after dominating in the VFL for a few months and he was one of the Saints best, racking up 26 touches and laying a game high 13 tackles. Jake Lloyd has surpassed 25 touches in every game this season except for all lthe way back in Round 1. He takes the kickouts for the Swans and the Saints have kicked 14+ behinds in four of their last five games.
