A few weeks ago you would have imagined this match to be almost a foregone conclusion with the Crows struggling to win a game and Richmond playing their usual strong brand of footy. A lot can change in the AFL however, and the Crows come into this now as the first side to beat Melbourne this year and will take a massive amount of confidence from that performance last week. The Tigers are reeling outside the top eight for the first time in recent memory after slumping to their 2nd loss in 3 games. Can they bounce back against a resurgent Crows?

Match Preview
Richmond will be looking to bounce back after another loss last week at the hands of the Lions. Hardwick’s side are now 5-5 on the year and sit outside the top eight. This game was originally scheduled to take place at the MCG but due to the snap lockdown that has gone into effect in Melbourne, the game has been moved to GIANTS Stadium in Sydney.
Adelaide dug deep to record a much needed 1 point victory over the competition leaders in the Demons. That was a must win game for the Crows who had hit a form slump since a good start to the season. With that performance under their belt they should take a heap of confidence out of it and will know they can compete with the top sides in the competition. They get to play Richmond at the right time, who are experiencing a massive form slump of their own and are a decent chance of being right in this match.
On class alone, you would expect the Tigers to be too good, despite injuries, they still have a lot of stars to call upon, which is hard to ignore. They have shown glimpses of the football which has seen them win multiple premierships in the last few years and it’s just a matter of which type of Richmond side show up. I can’t see them suffering another loss, especially if their dominant 44 poitn win over the Crows at Adelaide Oval back in Round 18 is the form we have to go by.

Tigers Prop
Dustin Martin was unusually quiet last week against the Lions, as they did a very good job in shutting down his impact on the match. You don’t regularly see Martin have two bad games in a row however, and I think he will have his hands on the ball all night to ensure a Richmond win. Expect him to come out firing.
Crows Prop
There’s no ignoring the current form of Rory Laird who has been one of the competition leaders in disposals this season. His recent run of form in particular is incredible, having 35+ touches in all of his last three games. The Crows midfield rely on him and will once again carry massive responsibility for his side against one of the toughest midfields in the league. I think he can go past 35 again tonight and it looks a decent bit of value.
