AFL Brisbane vs GWS Betting Tips
Gabba, Saturday 29th May 2.10pm (AEST)
The Lions and Giants meet while they are both in solid form in what should be a really intriguing match Saturday afternoon. Can the Giants cause yet another upset or will the Brisbane train roll on?
Match Prediction
How good have the Lions been lately? After a slow start the season which saw them win just one of their first four games, they have won their last six games on the trot including big wins over Port Adelaide and Richmond. They sit in fourth place on the AFL ladder and can solidify a spot in the top four with a win over the Giants.
GWS lost a heartbreaker to the Tigers back in Round 9 but bounced back on the weekend to defeat the Eagles in a thrilling match. They claimed a 16 point win in Sydney on the back of strong games from Callan Ward, Lachie Whitfield and Tom Green.
The Giants are still absolutely ravaged by injuries, and will have the likes of Stephen Coniglio, Brent Daniels, Phil Davis, Matt de Boer, Toby Greene, Jesse Hogan, Adam Kennedy, Harry Perryman and Sam Taylor out for this clash. The quality of team that the Giants are still able to trot out despite those absences is a testament to their depth.
The Lions are without a few key players, but not nearly to the extent of the Giants. Brisbane will be missing Lachie Neale, Cam Rayner, Jarrod Berry, Darcy Gardiner and Noah Answerth for the clash, but will still start as heavy 27.5 point favourites at home.
I really like the Giants with the 27.5 point head start here. Since back to back losses against Freo in Perth and Melbourne at home in Round 2 and 3, the Giants are 5-2 and their two losses have come by an average margin of 22 points. They have played the Lions 11 times in their history, losing to them by over 27.5 point on just two occasions, their first two meetings all the way back in 2012 and 2013.

Tim Taranto has surpassed the 25 disposal mark in nine of his 10 games so far this season and his last eight in a row. It’s a similar case for Brisbane star Jarryd Lyons, who has cleared the 25 touch mark in eight of his 10 games and has been on an absolute tear since Lachie Neale went down with injury. Our last leg is Tom Green to pass the 20 touch mark. Green was dominant in the win on the weekend, racking up 27 disposals and two goals for a best on ground performance. He has now pass 20 touches in four straight games.
