The Cats will host the Suns on Saturday afternoon in what should be an interesting clash from GMHBA Stadium in Geelong. As usual, PuntingInDanger has you covered with his best bet for the game as well as a three leg same game multi below.
AFL Geelong vs Gold Coast Betting Tips
GMHBS Stadium, Saturday 22nd May 2.10pm (AEST)
The Cats have lost just 1 of their last 13 games at GMHBA Stadium and they will be looking to improve on that dominant record when they host the Suns from 2.10pm.
Match Prediction
The Cats looked so dominant over the Tigers two weeks ago, but that certainly wasn’t the case against the Saints on Friday night. While they still recorded a 21 point win, the Saints were arguably the better side for the majority of the night, piling on 22 scoring shots to the Cats 18, but ultimately failing to make the most of their chances. It was a bit of a worrying performance for Cats fans, but to be outplayed and still win is also quite solidifying in some ways.
The Suns had been playing some solid football over the three weeks leading up to their clash against Brisbane in Round 9. They won back to back games against the Swans and Magpies before losing a hard fought game to the Saints. It seems their extensive injury list finally caught up with them in Round 9 and the dam wall cracked. They were obliterated at the Gabba, going down by 73 points to a rampant Lions side.
The Cats are still without star midfielder Patrick Dangerfield but other than that, their injury list is pretty solid at the moment. The same can’t be said for the Suns, who are absolutely ravaged by injury at the moment, without the likes of Connor Budarick, Matt Conroy, Jack Hombsch, Matt Rowell, Luke Tower, Rory Thompson and Jarrod Witts. They will get star midfielder Touk Miller back from suspension this week though.
Geelong start as massive favourites here and rightfully so given their dominant record at GMHBA Stadium. The Suns have travelled to Geelong on six occasions in their short history and have never returned to the Gold Coast with a win. It’s a telling stat of just how successful the Cats have been over the past 10 years, albeit without capturing that elusive premiership.
They will win again on Saturday, I have no doubt of that. The question is, can they cover the hefty 42.5 point line. I don’t much fancy that line either way, but I do really like the Cats over here. Here’s a list of scores that the Suns have conceded in their six games at GMHBA Stadium. 188, 123, 105, 168, 142 and 89. That’s an average of just over 136 points. The Cats have scored 100+ in three of their last five games and I like them to again on the weekend.

Jeremy Cameron had a quieter game against the Saints, kicking just one goal as he was well held by the likes of Dougall Howard and Callum Wilkie, some of the best 1v1 defenders in the league. He should get a much easier assignment this week and in his other three games this season, he has booted 3, 3 and 6 goals. Mitch Duncan has plaued seven games so far this season and has cleared the 25 disposal mark in six of them. Has been on a tear the last three weeks in particular, racking up 29, 30 and 30. The extensive injury list to the Suns line-up has done wonders for Brandon Ellis’ possession numbers this season. He has failed to break the 20 touch mark just twice in nine games and had 23 on the weekend in a 73 point loss.
