Esports Betting Tips: Tuesday, May 4th
NaVi Junior vs LDLC
LOOT.BET/CS Season 9
NaVi Junior and LDLC will clash on Tuesday, May 4 in LOOT.BET/CS Season 9. Both sides enter this match with a perfect 2-0 record, meaning a win will guarantee one of them a direct bye into the next stage.
With a lot on the line, we can expect both sides to put up a show. That said, it's fairly easy to see which of the two should come out ahead.
LDLC enter this match as 1.57 favourites, which does not surprise me. They already took down PACT (2-0) and Young Ninjas (2-0) with ease and are looking like one of the best teams at the tournament.
Natus Vincere Junior was just as successful in their tournament opener, having bested Izako Boars (2-1) and Sangal Esports (2-1). However, they weren't as impressive in their games as LDLC.
NaVi Jr. are not exactly terrible, but they don't play enough games to be considered a well-rounded team. They have appeared in only eight games throughout April and have played only 15 since the end of January.
LDLC were not only far more active this year, but they're also in great form. The French side enter this match on a four-game winning streak, which includes clean sweeps of Young Nijya, Ambush, The Dice and UMX. This should be an easy 2-0 for LDLC.
Anonymo Esports vs Sangal Esports
LOOT.BET/CS Season 9
Talent-wise, there really isn't much to set these two apart, yet the esports bookmakers seem to believe Anonymo are a much stronger team. At 3.75, betting on Sangal Esports offers great value, however, that's not the main prediction for this match.
Anonymo Esports enter this bout off a 2-0 victory against Endpoint and a 1-2 loss against SKADE. Having lost one match, Anonymo need to win here to avoid a possible elimination from the tournament.
Sangal are in the same spot, having won their LOOT.BET/CS opener against Lilmix (2-1), but then lost against NaVi Jr. (1-2). Even though seeing them lose against a team that I don't view very highly isn't great, I wouldn't overreact to that result
Sangal and Anonymo last met at the start of April, when Anonymo eliminated Sangal from Snow Sweet Snow #3 with a 2-1 reverse sweep. Sangal took the series lead with 16-13 on Nuke, but then dropped the ball on Inferno (5-16) and Vertigo (9-16).
Sangal are on a three-game losing streak, whereas Anonymo won both of their last two. That said, Anonymo's wins came against an amateur squad Tarczynski Protein Team with 16-14 and 16-9 which is hardly worth celebrating.
These sides seem equally matched, which is why I expect to see another close affair. I'm also adding a value bet on Sangal, who have the needed quality to edge out a win.
Value: Sangal Win ($3.75)
PSG.LGD vs EHOME
Chinese DPC Upper Division Season 2
A rivalry between two of the most successful Chinese Dota 2 teams will see another fixture added to its history on Tuesday, May 4, when PSG.LGD clash with EHOME in the final week of the Chinese DPC Upper Division Season 2.
These two teams met 60 times since 2012, way before LGD rebranded to PSG.LGD. Throughout history, each team enjoyed stints of dominance, the most recent coming in 2020, when PSG.LGD beat EHOME 11 times across 14 series.
Things, however, seem to be far more balanced in 2021, seeing how it was EHOME who hold a marginal head-to-head lead with 3-2. That record includes two back-to-back victories from March and April.
On paper, PSG.LGD are stronger than EHOME and are expected to win on Tuesday. The problem, however, is that I'm not too convinced PSG.LGD will be able to do it - at least not with ease.
EHOME have been holding on well throughout this tournament (2-1), even though they dropped a series against Elephant (0-2). PSG.LGD are 1-2 after three games, which isn’t great, but they took down the reigning ONE Esports Singapore Major champions Invictus Gaming (2-0) on Sunday.
At this level of play, it's rarely about which team has better players, but more about which side shows up on the day. Both EHOME and PSG.LGD have the tools to win, so there is value with the underdogs. That said, most of these meetings go down to the wire, so it makes more sense to take over 2.5 maps.
