AFL Adelaide vs Gold Coast Betting Tips

Adelaide Oval, Friday 2nd April 7.50pm (AEDT)

Both the Crows and the Suns will compete on Good Friday for the first time this season as the double-header gets a revival after there was no Easter games last year. Both teams are 1-1, which should make for an interesting game.

Match Prediction

The Crows were outstanding in Round 1, causing what could potentially go down as the upset of the year as they defeated last year’s grand finalists in the Geelong Cats by 12 points. The revelation for the Crows has been the return to form for veteran forward Taylor Walker, who booted five goals in the win over the Cats and another six in the Crows loss to the Swans in Round 2.

The Suns looked competitive in their game against the Eagles in Round 1 before a heartbreaking injury to star midfielder Matt Rowell put the brakes on their performance. They still managed to cover the line in that game, losing by just 25 points. They also covered comfortably in Round 2 against the Roos as they recorded a 59 point win at home. The catalyst of their win was the star midfield core of Noah Anderson, Brandon Ellis, Jack Bowes and Touk Miller, all of whom racked up 30+ touches.

The Crows aren’t looking too bad on the injury front. Defenders Jake Kelly and Luke Brown should be available for selection this week while Jackson Hately could make his season debut after recovering from a groin injury. Still out for the Crows is Matt Crouch, Daniel Talia, Lachlan Gollant and Wayne Milera.

On the Suns side, they were dealt a blow in their win over North Melbourne with  Connor Budarick and Sam Day both suffering knee injuries that will keep them out for extended periods. They join Matt Rowell, Zac Smith, Rory Thompson and Jacob Townsend on list of outs for this week.

The Suns had played the Crows 13 times up until their Round 3 clash with them last season and 13 times they have suffered defeat. That changed last year when they recorded a monumental 53 point win to break the hoodoo. Unfortunately for them, the Crows look like a different side this season and actually seem to be playing to their potential.

Over the course of that 13 game winning streak for the Crows, the average winning margin was a monster 60.15. While I don’t think the Crows will match those lofty heights, I think they do win this one at home given their impressive start to the season. Back them at the 1-39 margin here.

Crows Prop

How can you look past the big Texan at the moment? Taylor Walker is in some serious form, leading the Coleman Medal tally with 11 goals through two games. The new man on the mark rule seems to be really benefiting lead up forwards and there aren’t many forwards in the league that present stronger than Taylor Walker. Back him to kick 3+ this week.

Suns Prop

There’s not a whole lot that I like on the Suns side in terms of prop bets but one that does catch my eye is Hugh Greenwood to have 20+ disposals. Greenwood has had a slowish start to the season, racking up 10 disposals in Round 1 and doubling that to 20 in Round 2. Should relish the opportunity to play against his old side here, back him to clear the 20 touch mark, which he did 8 times last season in shortened quarters.
