Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Sunday, September 27th.
After a big couple of days of Group 1 racing in Australia, it's a quieter day on Sunday, but the winners still pay the same. Trent Crebbin has found three selections from Mornington and Northam this afternoon. Find them in his preview below!
Horse Racing Tips: Sunday, September 27th
Mornington Race 5 (Market)
(9) Ocean Miss maps beautifully here from barrier 3. She can lead this field for fun and is rock hard fit. A wet track should pose no issue and she’s suited at her home track. With the 2000m run under her belt last start when running a solid 2nd, she should be able to control this and if it’s tough to make ground on the heavy, tight Mornington circuit she’ll be very tough to run down.
Mornington Race 6 (Market)
I thought (3) Naval Warfare could be a touch of value here in the feature of the day. He comes here third up where he’s won twice, and a heavy track won’t faze him. He’s probably the best performed stayer in the field multiple group and listed placings. His run last start behind Creedence was solid in 4th, only beaten 2L and he’s into his optimum distance range. He does draw wide in barrier 11 but there isn’t a stack of pace here and he could be able to sit outside the lead and control the race.
Northam Race 5 (Market)
(6) Zaalah looks hard to beat here. He drops back from 2200m to 1400m off a freshen which is the obvious knock, but he gets blinkers first time, and this is a pretty thin race. He brings a very good SP profile and whilst he drifted quite heavily last start, I think he can be very strong and run them into the ground over the shorter course here for the Simon Miller yard.
