NFL Week 8 Betting Tips
Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens
Monday, 5am (AEDT)
What a great matchup here between two fierce AFC North rivals. The Steelers are the last remaining undefeated team in the league at 6-0 and can make a statement in their division with a win on the road against the Ravens on Monday morning. The Steelers are 5-1 against the spread and have won four of their six games by a touchdown or more.
The Ravens have also had a strong season to date, going 5-1 straight up and 3-2-1 against the spread. Reigning MVP Lamar Jackson has been impressive, averaging almost 200 passing yards per game and a fantastic 57.7 rushing yards per game. He’ll have his work cut out for him on Monday morning, however, as he comes up against a Steelers team that allowed just 68.8 rushing yards per game, the 2nd fewest in the league.
Like the look of the Steelers here. The Ravens are good at beating up on the bad teams in the NFL, as they have done to the likes of the Texans, Browns, Washington, Eagles and Bengals this season. In their only real test, however, they were comfortably handled by the Chiefs, going down by 14 points. The Steelers have a fantastic defence, which has allowed the 5th fewest points per game in the league at just 19.7. Back them to cover the 3.5 point spread here.
Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers
Monday, 5am (AEDT)
The Packers were smashed by the Buccaneers in Week 6, going down by 28 points on the road. They bounced back in Week 7 against the Texans, recording a 15 point win to get their season back on track. They are 5-1 straight up and 5-1 against the spread and have one of the most dynamic offences in the league, averaging the 2nd most points per game at 32.8.
The Vikings have had a season to forget so far. There were some wraps on Minnesota before the season began, with many having them as contenders in the division, however, they have started with a 1-5 record and have already lost to the Packers.
Green Bay were 9 point winners back in Week 1 and in hindsight, that was arguably one of the Vikings better performances of the season so far. Back at home at Lambeau Field, the Packers should win this one. All five of their wins have come by a touchdown or more and we think that streak continues this week.
New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears
Monday, 8.25am (AEDT)
Two of the best teams in the NFC will square off on Monday morning as the Bears host the Saints from 8.25am. The Saints have won their last three games in a row against the Lions, Chargers and Panthers but have failed to cover large seven point lines in their last two. While they are 4-2 straight up, they are just 2-4 against the spread and start as 4.5 point favourites on the road on Monday.
The Bears were 5-1 heading into their Week 7 clash with the Rams and had a full head of steam. They were handled comfortably by LA to the tune of 14 points and will be thankful to be back at Soldier Field this week, where they had a fantastic upset win over the Buccaneers just a few weeks ago.
Like the look of the Bears with the points at home here. In games where they have started as underdogs this season, they are 4-2 against the spread and the Saints haven’t won a game by 5+ points since their October 4th win over the Lions.
