It’s Ipswich Cup Day on Saturday in what should be a quality program to headline this weekend’s racing in Queensland. The rail is out 0.5m the entirety and a GOOD track is expected – watch and monitor for any pattern if possible.

Ipswich Racing Tips – Saturday, June 17th 2023
Race 2: Ray White Ipswich 1350m - 12:18 pm (AEST)
(10) SAILOR’S SECRET – he’s had a solid preparation this time in and I think he can win again. Second-up he ran well behind BOOM SHOT (who had last crack at him) over this track/trip before going to 1400m at Eagle Farm with 51.5kgs on his back and he put a gap in them winning by 3L. He then went to 3YO SWP grade at Doomben over 1350m and was good running fifth behind EKATERINA when he was held up at a key stage (those that finished ahead of him took off before turning for home / had momentum). LS he stayed at Doomben over 1350m at BM75 grade, did some work from the gate to lead, sat OSL on a genuine tempo, gave a big kick down the straight but was collared right on the post by SUNFALL (fav in race 3 / good gaps behind). Gets a better gate today and maps to put himself on speed again. He loves Ipswich and this distance is in his wheelhouse. Keen he runs well again.
(14) AQUA ALTA – Resuming horse who has won here and only just missed over this distance. Likes the soft track and can play a role. Nice jockey booked and light weight.
(10) SALORS SECRET - Win
$3.40 (2 Units)
Race 3: Great Northern Mile BM78 1666m - 12:53pm (AEST)
(7) SUNFALL – one of the best bets of the day! He’s been up for a while but seems to have hit a nice patch of form since moving north. He went enormous two back when running second to BRIGANTINE (sat 3 and 4WNC the entirety and still kept kicking / was strong through the line / beat home EAGLEMONT who’s also here) before being well backed (SP’d $2.10) LS and duly saluting. He got caught 3-back the fence and was held-up at a key stage before going back to the fence and really knuckling down late to win (good gap to third / loved the chase). Gets out to the mile today, draws to get a lovely run in transit, and gets in well after the claim. Hard to beat.
(9) EAGLEMONT – Only other horse in the market here and hit the line well first up before finishing second to a smart horse. Will be fit third up now and should give punters a run.
(7) SUNFALL - Win
$2.60 (3 Units)
Race 5: River 94.9fm C6 1100m - 2:03pm (AEST)
(2) EXTREMIST – best value runner of the day. It’s always hard for the girls to give weight to the boys but I think she can do it and win. It took a very smart one to knock her over first-up in ANTINO (since won / big gaps to third) and then MAJESTIC SHOT beat her in the last two strides when she was second-up (beat home QUEEN OF BELISSIMO that day which ties in with DEEPOUR / clearly beat everything else). LS she sat OSL in Listed Grade, began awkwardly and had to do some work early, and she only battled on OK (beaten 4.3L behind COMRADE ROSA / SP’d $5 that day). She gets back to 1110m today, draws a low gate and maps to lead or sit right behind them (DEEPOUR will likely be giving her a big start and ORBISYN might have to do some work from the wide alley). I think she can hit back hard!
(3) DEEPOUR – Favourite in the market who won four in a row to finish last prep. First up in an open race and finished 3rd. Gets the extra 100m today and will be in the finish.
(2) EXTREMIST - Win
$4.80 (2 Units)
Race 7: Ipswich Cup 2150m - 3:17pm (AEST)
(4) BERDIBEK – veteran horse here that doesn’t win often, but ran on nicely last start to fill the minors and prior to that was too far back and needed to do too much work. Gets a rise in trip which looks ideal and should be fit enough to give punters a sight. Good jockey booked too. Each way bet.
(7) LONDON BANKER – Tipped last start, but didn’t show up. Gets it slightly easier here and if he rocks up on race day he can hit the line late and be a sniff at long odds.
(4) BERDIBEK – E/W
$5.50/$2.15 (1u/2u)
