Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, September 17th

September 17th 2019, 12:55pm, By: Luke Krahe

Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Tuesday, September 17th.

We kick off the new week of racing with meetings at Bairnsdale, Muswellbrook and Corowa. Luke Krahe has picked out his best bets below!

Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, September 17th

Wangaratta Race 5 (Market)

(4) Hapaira is lining up for start number four in his career, he won on debut on a heavy track by more than 5 lengths before narrowly being beaten as favourite at start two. He went to Swan Hill last time and again was heavily backed deep into red figures, sat up on the speed before kicking at the top of the straight and bolting in again by almost three lengths. He has to step up in trip again today but looks to have a stack of upside, is drawn well in the middle of the line and loses nothing with the talented apprentice Teo Nugent going on. He has good speed and will be able to amble up outside the leader. His main danger looks to be (1) Yeldarb who is very consistent but will be giving our horse a start, he came from well back last time to run over the top of them and score impressively. He is going to need everything to go right off the inside draw looking for runs, all the while Hapaira may be off and gone.

Wangaratta Race 7 (Market)

(7) Calling Us Home is a new addition to the P Payne yard having her first run in Australia since arriving from across the ditch. She showed some potential early in her career before resuming just over a month ago at Woodville where she bolted in to win her maiden as favourite. She had one more run in NZ, ran on well and was only beaten a half length in a blanket finish. Interestingly she has only had a little over two weeks since that run, the new stable has put her straight in a very winnable 58 with a good claim. I expect her to be well backed.

(7) Calling Us Home

$2.60

Townsville Race 3 (Market)

(2) Distracted is an interesting runner that has had a change of stable recently, he had been racing ok in South East Queensland before only an average run on a firm surface at Murwillumbah last time. He is having his first run for local trainer Jeffrey Caught who has an excellent record here at the track in recent times. He hadn’t been showing a lot of speed in his races and hopefully has a little more zest in the legs now with the new team. (3) Eroe is another that stays under notice coming north for the first time but he has had enough chances to break the duck and is resuming, he probably needs further. His runs in Vic were ok at the back end of last prep but he is going to be giving them a start. Prefer to see him here once first.

(2) Distracted

$3.50

Moruya Race 5 (Market)

(1) Bart is clearly the best performed horse in the field, he resumed at Moryua two back and led all the way sitting off the fence and getting the upper hand after a two-horse war up the straight. Last time at Gundagai he was very easy in the betting, still started favourite but the run was very “interesting”. He led and was beaten on his merit but the rider was questioned regarding to his lack of vigour in the latter stages. Again we get an apprentice, this time claiming 4 kilos, from the inside he should be going forward and lead all the way, proving too classy. (3) Waiheke should be a saver and not be going around a loser, he resumed at Canberra and ran on well, his only other second-up run was his maiden win at Wyong and bolted in. If he gets the right horse to follow and can settle mid-field, he will hit the line hard.
