Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, September 3rd
Ipswich Race 6 (Market)
(8) Vinasta is two from two this prep for the Tony Gollan stable, with victories at the Sunshine Coast and Gatton. She finds another very winnable race at Ipswich today. Ryan Maloney takes over the ride, he rides at 31% for Tony Gollan, while the trainer has a 26% strike rate at Ipswich. The map is a little bit trickier than her two recent wins as she’s drawn out in barrier 9, but she looks the winner in a modest field and her $1.95 quote looks about right.
Muswellbrook Race 7 (Market)
Pretty simple betting strategy here. I’ll be backing (9) Celestial Doll and saving on (6) Fox Spirit. Celestial Doll is a three-year-old filly that won first up from a spell on heavy ground at Goulburn. She won’t quite get a heavy track here but it should be in the soft range. She draws well in barrier 2 so should position up on speed like she did at Goulburn, with Brodie Loy retaining the ride. Fox Spirit resumes from a spell. She’s had four starts for a win and two 2nds. She won a recent trial at Scone leading into today and Cameron Crockett has a fantastic record with his runners at Muswellbrook. She also draws well in barrier 3 and can either lead or take a sit right behind the frontrunners. Expect her to be hard to beat fresh.
Northam Race 5 (Market)
I was very keen on (2) Tycoon Storm first up at Pinjarra where she ran 4th, so I have to stick with her in what is a very low race today. She might have been a bit soft first up and 1200m is short of her best, so with that run under her belt, and the step up to 1400m, she might improve sharply today. She also drops from a Class 5 to a Class 3, and notably, Chris Parnham replaces Clint Johnston-Porter in the saddle. Everything points to her winning this so even though she’s odds-on, I’ll stick with her to get the job done.
