Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, September 19th
Lismore Race 8
The feature of the day is the Lismore Cup, I am finding hard to go past the favourite (4) Ocean Addict. The Toby Edmonds trained mare is very consistent, she has only been beaten out of a place once in her 9 start career, that was a fourth at Ipswich earlier this prep where she had no luck in a race that has proven a very solid form reference. She has versatility, two starts back she sat up on the speed over 2200m at Eagle Farm, hung out in the straight and just found the leader too good. Last time at the same track she got out to the mile and a half, was further back in the run, held-up at a vital stage before running on hard to miss by the narrowest of margins, with daylight officially third. A little concerning that she is coming back in trip on the smaller track, but drawn well with the blinkers on, Fradd should have her positioned well and be the one making the run down the side.
Sale Race 5
(12) Warning gets out to the mile for the first time in his short career, he resumed at Sandown a couple of weeks back in a much harder maiden than this, got back in the field and rattled home out wide to place and be beaten three-quarters of a length. He had support that day ($7.50-$6), looks to have come back well and the way he finished off, the mile should be right up his alley. It simply looks a matter of handling the rain-affected track, something he has not raced on before. Because of that, monitor the betting throughout the morning, there may be a little resistance to him and I am not certain the money will come for him, although I am sure it will at some stage.
Sale Race 6
At the time of writing, the fillies and mares handicap has only 8 runners so there will be three place dividends, so watch to see if there are any taken out before now and post time. (2) Riverina Lass doesn’t have a great winning record but I like the map for her here in the small field. She got well back in the run last start in an easier race and was beaten as favourite, she ran on ok in to a place but that’s not really her go. There doesn’t look a lot of speed on paper here, I am thinking that she can lead and if she does, she will be very hard to run down. She handles the wet tracks well, she doesn’t have a lot of speed so hopefully she rolls along and doesn’t turn it into a sit-sprint. If she does, she may get left behind when they quicken and then come again late. Roll along in front, kick before the turn and just hold on, that’s the plan. Hopefully.

Kembla Grange Race 2
(4) Famous has had three runs back this prep since turning three, he sat up on the speed and dominated his maiden win as a very short priced favourite, He was then thrown in the deep end against some of the better 3YO in Sydney in the Up and Coming, had a little support at double figure odds was essentially outclassed. Last start he went to Wyong in a similar race and was well backed, sat behind the leader and although he did have every chance, his last 200m was good on the clock. His only other heavy track run was poor but it was on debut and at Group Three level, happy to pen that as a form reference for him on this surface. Tommy Berry is riding great and hopefully he just rides this guy as the best horse in the race, straight on the speed and with arrogance.
