Horse Racing Tips: Friday, September 4th
Rockhampton Race 8 (Market)
(10) Nailed It Nan has returned with two wins from two starts this preparation. Last start she won by a nose over this track and distance. She steps up in class from a Class 1 to a BM58 today, but I have a few reservations about those alongside her at the top of the market. She gets a good draw in barrier 5 so should be able to get a similar run to what she did last start, Justin Stanley retains the ride and this is Clinton Taylor’s only runner of the day at a track he has a very good record at. Looks hard to beat again.
Wyong Race 8 (Market)
(6) Rifles returned from a 10-week let up with a dominant performance over the short course at Newcastle. He put up a similar performance here at Wyong first up last prep, before running 3rd second up. He was caught wide without cover on that occasion though and did well to finish as close as he did. He draws wide today but he should be able to come across and land on speed and he should take plenty of beating once again.
Canberra Race 5 (Market)
When David Pfeiffer brings runners to Canberra, they normally go very well. (6) Andreas looks the reason for today’s trip to the nation’s capital, as he looks the best of the stable’s chances throughout the day. He’s had one start back in April where he was well-beaten in town, but he was sent straight for a spell and returns today with one trial under the belt. He gets a huge drop in class and also gets the blinkers applied for the first time. It looks as though they’ve set him to win this first up. Look to have a saver on the Waterhouse/Bott-trained (9) Elveena.
Canberra Race 8 (Market)
The Waterhouse/Bott stable are another that have a good record when they bring runners to Canberra. (11) Fortune Seeker has trialled well on two occasions at Rosehill and should be very hard to beat on debut today. She hasn’t led in either trial but don’t be surprised to see her fired out of the gate straight to the front. I don’t think there’s a huge amount of depth to the race so if she brings her trial form, she looks the winner.

Donald Race 1 (Market)
(2) Arizona Drifter must be included at $31 in the first at Donald. He’s had two starts at Swan Hill and Warrnambool, and was well-beaten in both, but he probably didn’t handle the heavy ground all that well last start. Those races have been over 1200m and 1400m, and he’s another that gets the sharp step up in distance to 2000m today. The blinkers go on for the first time, and Dan O’Sullivan’s runners go particularly well at Donald, so I’ll be having something on each way at the big odds.
