Horse Racing Tips: Friday, June 12th
Dubbo Race 1
Half of the twelve runners in Race 1 are yet to come to the races, from what I have seen at the trials, none of them look to be above average at this stage. (1) Conscript has had one start, he debuted at Bathurst two weeks ago on the soft track. He was very short in the betting and deep in the red, landed on the bunny and after racing a little green in the straight, never looked like getting run down. Gerald Ryan 2YO’s winning on debut coming up 9/2 in a Dubbo race for the babies, yes please! The wide draw should see him carve over and be on the speed again, bet again if he is first across to the rail and in-play is your thing.
Dubbo Race 6
(3) Deep Vain is one of the more interesting runners of the day anywhere, the son of Deep Field has had two starts in Victoria for the Robbie Griffiths yard, poor on debut then hit the line well placing on the synthetic track last time. For reasons that I certainly don’t know, the owners have taken him north and west to be trained locally here in Dubbo, with just the three weeks between runs he shouldn’t have lost any fitness in the stable change and this looks a lot easier. The betting will tell us a lot more, especially post 9am.
Geelong Race 2
(5) Kumo Sun was first seen at the races back in the early Spring, she was never in the race at her debut after getting a mile back and only battled on steadily. She then came here to Geelong in a race no easier than this, settled mid-field and made good ground to run into a place and miss narrowly in a blanket go. She was sent to the paddock and has had two jump-outs in readiness for this easier assignment. I really liked the way she finished off her last trial, she was only fairly away, was stoked up in the straight and once she balanced up, really hit the line well to score and was strong through the line. I like the fact she is straight to the 1250m fresh, look for her hitting the line hard late.
Geelong Race 4
Ahhhh staying maiden races, what a thing of beauty they are! (8) Zee Rebel has had 17 prior chances to break the duck, is today his day? I will be backing him on an each-way basis, you may think I am mad coming off beaten margins of 8.3L, 6.5L and 5.3L going back his last three? It is solely on what we have seen at the betting in those starts, two back at Cranbourne he was $9 into $5.50 SP over 2000m, he then came here last time and was well backed in to start a $3.50 favourite. He must be showing something and we know there are no superstars in this. The tongue-tie goes off, getting $2.50 and better the place looks the way to go, that support in the betting at his last two starts is not coming from the dummies!
