Harness Racing Tips: Saturday, June 29th
Albion Park Race 1 – 4:47pm AEST
A competitive race to kick off the 10-race Albion Park program and trainer Craig Cross has two key chances with (4) Cruz and (10) Goonly. I am in the corner of Goonly who is second up from a spell. He was ninth of 10 at Menangle when beaten 19.6m by Vega Star in 1:51.1. His record is good with nine wins from 18 starts and he should be finishing strongly in this C4+ event. Three starts ago Goonly defeated Jilliby Chevy at Ballarat which is good form. Luke McCarthy will drive which is a good thing in Queensland. It is a wide-open race but happy with the $7.50 for Goonly.
Albion Park Race 4 – 6:17pm AEST
A 1660m race that should see (3) Soulwriter leading. I don’t think she is a $1.75 chance in the race and prefer to back (4) Kinetic Kate who easily beat Soulwriter home last start. Soulwriter was in the breeze and that doesn’t look to occur here so she will perform a lot better. Kinetic Kate ran home in 56 seconds after making up a lot of ground from the tail of the field. She was flying home in the home straight and will be dangerous if she can land a trail home. (8) Perfect Jesse should be finishing strongly from the pegs.
Albion Park Race 7 – 7:38pm AEST
(6) Lincolns Girl comes up an odds-on favourite and I am not sure her form warrants that. She isn’t guaranteed to lead either with gate speed drawn inside and also outside with (7) Amillion Promises. I like the recent form of (4) Recipe For Dreaming with Pete McMullen driving. He won a C1 last start in 1:55.1 after finding the front from barrier five. McMullen will likely make a play for the front again. Three starts ago this horse paced a 1:53.5 mile rate and ran home in 54.9 seconds which is easily the quickest in the field. (1) Caesars Astrum looks a big price as does (12) Gina Mach if they were to go crazy up front.
(4) Recipe For Dreaming
$6.50
Melton Race 7 – 8:00pm AEST
Semi-Final night for the Vicbred Super Series and not keen on the meeting as horses look to qualify for their respective finals. Throw in the fact that Emma Stewart will dominate almost every single race and I’d prefer to focus on Albion Park. One horse that does grab my attention though is (7) Demon Delight who was massive in his heat. He raced outside of Centenario and proved too good with the last half run in 54.3 seconds on a rain-affected Kilmore track. Hurricane Harley couldn’t reel him in. Expect Demon Delight to do the same here against (3) Im Sir Blake.
