Harness Racing Tips: Gloucester Park - Tuesday, June 18th
Race 2 – 7:50pm AEST
A field of eight runners will compete over the longer journey of 2536m in this Level 5 race. (3) Raging Romeo could be driven more aggressively to try and hold the lead with Chris Lewis driving. (4) Shadow Roll and (6) Twilight Saga are the other two horses that may have a crack for the lead. I don’t have a definitive speed map but will be hoping Shadow Roll is unable to find the lead. If he is parked, then (5) Allwood Peacemaker could come into play at double figures with some cover in the moving line. The Debbie Padberg-trained 4YO gelding was a winner two starts ago beating (9) Jilliby Navajo. He was fifth last start and the run was good.
My Rated Price: $7.00
(5) Allwood Peacemaker
$12
Race 3 – 8:20pm AEST
The early speed battle should be between (1) Mister Rollins and (3) Tarsao. The latter is probably quicker but Mister Rollins has shown good gate speed in the past. Trainer Giles Inwood has his team flying at the moment and with the help from the man with the pink cart, Chris Voak, Mister Rollins looks a major player. I’m going with Tarsao however as he has been racing in stronger grade. Three starts ago he was run down as a $1.36 favourite which is a concern though. It is an open race with most of the field having some chance of winning if the race is run to suit.
My Rated Price: $2.80
Race 4 – 8:50pm AEST
(3) Bettor B Abeliever looks the leader and he will have very strong claims if he doesn’t over-race which could leave him a sitting duck to (1) Flynscotsman or (2) Kohli. One of the trio should win as they have the barrier advantage over their rivals. Kohli has the strongest last 800m numbers in the race and could get a good run from barrier two. It would be beneficial if he could cross Flynscotsman or for (6) Universal Major to run the gate and pour on some early speed; this could also trigger Bettor B Abeliever to over-race. Kohli has won two of his past three and should go close once again.
My Rated Price: $3.00
Race 6 – 9:45pm AEST
A few horses stand out in this race with (2) No More Change and (4) Tims Portrait off the front line and (10) Bettors Angel off the back row. No More Change hasn’t been showing much gate speed recently which means Tims Portrait may be able to get across. One of the pair is likely to find the lead. Tims Portrait will face the breeze if unable to lead and his sectional times read well for this class of race. Bettors Angel has been racing in fillies and mares’ grade but looks a strong contender. I am also interested in (12) El Sunami who could be dangerous late if there is any pressure on up front. Kyle Harper drives and this horse should suit Harper’s driving style.
My Rated Prices: Tims Portrait $2.80, El Sunami $11
Value: (12) El Sunami $21
