Harness Racing Tips: Gloucester Park - Tuesday, July 2nd
Race 1 – 7:20pm AEST
This is probably a race in two between (1) Walsh and (2) Our Virtuoso. One of the pair will lead with Our Virtuoso having more gate speed but Walsh drawing directly inside gives him a chance to boot up and hold the lead. Whichever horse leads will take plenty of catching. Walsh has been racing well against the best 3YOs this season and he looks a very strong chance tonight. Our Virtuoso was runner up behind Alta Rhett last start which is good form. (5) Hello Hotshot has smaller claims in the race.
Race 2 – 7:50pm AEST
I am keen on the Giles Inwood-trained (1) Just A Legend who begins from barrier one with Chris Voak driving. The 7YO gelding was supported last start when racing outside of the leader and failing to beat a runner home. He isn’t a breeze horse so completely forgive that run. He should be able to lead here and will take some catching as there isn’t a death seat horse in the race. Based on his run two starts ago, Just A Legend wins this race. (5) Impressive Signs is the main danger in the race while (10) Tepelo Star and (11) Ronan Maguire look solid top four chances on the pegs.
Race 3 – 8:20pm AEST
The Debbie Padberg stable has had recent success with Amadeo and Antagonistic, and tonight could be a chance for another ‘A’ to join them. (4) Absolution drops a long way in class and his sectional times rate on top in all departments with my figures. Driver Shannon Suvaljko would love to find the lead but may have to settle for sitting outside of (3) Alfs Odyssey who can begin well. Absolution should be able to put that horse away when Suvaljko wants to. (1) Iam Lambros lacks gate speed but will have something to offer late. (10) Prince Of Smiles has each-way claims with luck required and (2) El Sunami is a small winning chance.
Race 7 – 10:10pm AEST
Former Victorian mare (1) Live Like A Royal deserves her odds-on quote. If she is able to lead, she should go all-the-way against opposition that don’t look likely to trouble her. The $1.35 is too short to back and I prefer an each-way play on (9) Falling Starzzz instead. This mare can fly the gate when asked and her form stacks up in this field. It will depend on how much work she has to do in the race, but the place price in particular is very appealing. In saying that, the win price appeals too, and she is good enough on best form to win. (10) Renascentrez will run well trailing Live Like A Royal.
