It's another bumper night of harness racing at Gloucester Park this Friday, July 19th!
Harness racing expert Trent Orwin has previewed the meeting and offered his betting suggestions below.
Harness Racing Tips: Gloucester Park - Friday, July 19th
Race 3 – 8:22pm AEST (Market)
One of the highlights of the Friday night program is the third event. The speed map isn’t clear with (1) Baylan Jett likely to take a sit on a suitable rival. There are a few to choose from with (2) Dredlock Rockstar, (3) Hy Leexciting, (4) Our Corelli and (6) Warfare. The class horse is Warfare who was beaten 6.4m by Tommy Be Good in FFA company. He will most likely sit outside the leader and his chances increase if the horse that leads isn’t Our Corelli who has improved since joining trainer Debra Lewis. Dredlock Rockstar could run a big race if he found the lead. The Greg and Skye Bond pair of (7) Bettor Not Bitter and (8) Mighty Santana can win if the race pans out for them; the latter is the better chance and has beaten Warfare back in May.
Race 6 – 9:54pm AEST (Market)
The open-class fillies and mares compete over 2130m and the start will be interesting with the Mike Reed-trained (1) Countess Grace in barrier one and (5) The War Nurse in barrier five. Reed also prepares (8) Maczaffair from the wide draw and there could be a chance that Countess Grace will try to either hold The War Nurse or make her work in the early stages of the race. Any early speed burn will suit both Maczaffair and (7) Come Dance With Me. The race may pan out well for Maczaffair who finished second at her last start behind Purest Silk. Prior to that, Maczaffair was racing against Luis Alberto and Chicago Bull. Smaller hope to (3) Shes Turbo Charged who can fly under the radar.
Race 7 - BOTRA CUP SS PACE (2503m) – 10:31pm AEST (Market)
The Botra Cup is a standing-start event run over the 2503m. (1) The Dali Express looks extremely hard to beat from barrier one for the combination of trainer Ross Olivieri and driver Chris Lewis. A former South Australian pacer, The Dali Express was successful at his WA debut with a 2:00.6 victory at Pinjarra over 2631m. He came off a 30m handicap and defeated Lincs Tiger (third place) who had 40m. In the Botra Cup, The Dali Express will meet (9) Fizzing who has a 30m disadvantage. A lot will depend on how they step because Fizzing is a quick beginner. If The Dali Express steps well and leads, he will prove hard to run down. (4) The Midas Touch, (5) Athabascan and (6) Cracka Star have each-way claims.
