There's a plethora of harness racing action this Saturday, the 9th of March! We take a look at some of the best value races at Albion Park, Menangle and Melton this Saturday night and give our betting tips below.
Albion Park Harness Tips
Race 3
Western Australian young reinswoman Emily Suvaljko will drive Paravani in the third head of the Australian Female Drivers Championship. The four-year-old gelding will fly the gate and could go close to finding the front from barrier five. He has won three of his past five starts and appeals on an each-way basis at $17.
Race 9
Our Overanova normally comes off 45m and 50m backmarks in standing-start races and now finds himself in a mobile start. He defeated Quietly Spoken and Miracle Rising last start despite giving them a 50m and 40m head-start respectively. A winner of 18 from 42 from the mobile, Our Overanova looks a very strong chance here over the 1660m. Needle will be the biggest danger, but Our Overanova will meet him fairly rather than spotting him 50m.
Melton Harness Tips
Race 1
Anywhere Hugo is a smart trotter on the way up with seven wins from 23 starts. He won over the 1720m in 1:57.8 last time. Go back three starts ago and Anywhere Hugo was runner up in the Group 1 Breeders Crown 3YO Trotting Colts & Geldings Final (2240m) won by Stress Factor. Needabacardi looks very short drawing the inside of the back row behind a $101 chance. Anywhere Hugo has the class to be able to find the lead and will take catching if that happens.
Menangle Harness Tips
Race 4
Stablemates Come Cullect and Chevrons Reward will be the early speed with one of the pair leading. Come Cullect looks ready to win an M0 after finishing fifth from outside the leader in 1:51.1 last time behind Wrangler. Before that she was second to Bridget Blue Chip in 1:51.4 in a C0-C4 race. Bridget Blue Chip has since run third in the Group 2 Sibelia Stakes and Group 1 Ladyship Mile. That form line reads very well here and Come Cullect should be hardest to beat from barrier one.
Race 6
Lulu Le Mans looks very hard to beat in the Group 2 Pink Bonnet (1609m). She should work her way to the lead from barrier five with Anthony Butt driving. A winner on debut at Newcastle by 17.2m, Lulu Le Mans then broke at her next start when finishing fourth. At her most recent start, the filly was finishing strongly to run third, beaten 3.4m by Mach Dan in the Group 2 Sapling Stakes (1609m). They rated 1:52.9 and a repeat performance here will see Lulu Le Mans too strong for her rivals.
