Happy Valley is sure to be an interesting one tonight with racing on a rare wet track. More of these wet meetings will pop up leading to the end of the season with the next few months the wettest annually in the region. Good luck if you’re getting around our best bets below!
Happy Valley Racing Tips – Wednesday, June 14th 2023
Race 5: The Cricket Club Valley C2 – 1200m (22:45 AEST)
(2) Howdeepisyourlove should be able to win this race if he gets a decent enough time of it from gate 5. He was wide and pulled the eventual winner Eason into the race in the straight but has clearly not taken a step back and looks hard to beat tonight.
(6) Nordic Dragon makes up a very obvious quinella on paper having stormed home to win down in grade last start. 52kg will give him every favour on the wet ground tonight but he’ll need to be at his best with some luck from gate 9 to beat the favourite.
(9) Winning Icey is up in grade now too and down in weight. Gate 2 is ideal with Karis Teetan aboard and the horse is a nice e/w price to threaten and get into minor money tonight.
(2) Howdeepisyourlove – win
$2.20 (2 units)
Race 6: Wong Nai Chung Gap C4 – 1200m (23:15 AEST)
(3) G One Excellent has Zac Purton on tonight. He’s flying and went far better than a 7 reads on paper last start. Excellent form prior and should return to some representation of that this time.
(1) One For All is 3 for 3 at this trip and showing no signs of slowing down. He’s right up the top the weight scale now which may hinder his performance slightly but he’s not out of this race by any means.
(11) Lyrical Motion is a big price here. He typically runs well 1st up and is particularly efficient racing on rain-affected tracks. Sets up well tonight at a nice price.
(3) G One Excellent – E/W
$7/$2.50 (1 unit)
Race 8: Violet Hill Hcp C3 – 1650m (00:15 AEST)
(9) Romantic Laos looks one of the better bets on the card tonight. He’s short but simply better than this field if he reproduces what he did last start down in grade with top weight. Zac Purton should get it right and get this horse over the line.
(4) Hameron is working up in trip and getting to a point where he can start to work his way into the finish. He’s run well in his 2 starts so far but still been a few lengths off the winner.
(12) War Weapon is going well enough to impact this race. The wide draw looks the biggest test for him here although he should handle the going and has been shorter in recent races than he is this time.
(9) Romantic Laos – win
$2.00 (2 units)
