There’s a quality program at Eagle Farm on Saturday, headline by the Group 1 Queensland Derby and the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup. The rail is in the true position and our betting selections are for a GOOD track. Watch and monitor for any pattern if possible, and good luck to everyone following our racing tips this Saturday!
Eagle Farm Racing Tips – Saturday, May 27th 2023
Race 2: The Stars C6 1400m - 12:18pm (AEST)
(7) SUR LA MER – happy to take on the fav ANTINO at the short price in what looks to be a very open Class 6 Hcp. Not sure where he gets to in the run from the wide gate? Likely needs to go back and then try to run them down with 61.5kgs on his back? On the contrary, this girl draws a lovely gate for Rawiller, who takes the ride, and maps to get a nice run in transit. She was only fair first-up at Hawkesbury behind PRINCESS GRACE in the G3 Hawkesbury Crown before going to the G3 Dark Jewel at Scone LS beaten less than 2L behind MORE PROPHETS (also came out of the Hawkesbury Crown). She was held up at a key stage after straightening for home and was forced toward the inside where she was crowded for room / raced tight. She did a good job to poke through and hit the line nicely when clear. Third-up today and the big track at EF are both ticks. She can give us a sight.
Sur La Mer – E/W
$10/$3.30 (1u/2u)
Race 3: Premiers Cup 2400m - 12:53pm (AEST)
(3) SERPENTINE – looks one of the bets of the day! He didn’t win for quite some time after saluting in the G1 Epsom Derby but broke the drought first-up this prep beating KALAPOUR fair and square. He led the small field up that day whilst KALAPOUR had the smother in behind him, but he pulled out plenty to hold them all off. KALAPOUR has since won after that race beating home DUNE FORTY FIVE and OTYRAR (key rivals here / ties in) in the G3 Chairman’s Hcp. SERPENTINE meets KALAPOUR 3.5kgs better at the weights for having beaten him and maps to be the sole leader again. He loves it dry, and he’s trained by Waterhouse / Bott, so you know he’ll be fit / hard to run down. If he repeats the first up performance, he’s awfully hard to beat. Keen!
Serpentine – Win
$3.70 (3 Units)
Race 4: Lord Mayors Cup 1800M - 1:28pm (AEST)
(7) SKYMAN – best roughie of the day! Happy to forgive LS after he was slow to begin and rounding the 1500m mark he laid out and commenced to over-race (HEUTOR ran second that day and has won since). Before that he was a sound winner over the mile at Doomben in Listed grade beating home CEPHEUS (since run well behind KALAPOUR / ran earlier today) in the Tails Stakes (did his best work late / lumped 60kgs). He’ll need a plan / some luck from the gate, but I think the 1800m at EF on a good track will suit. Gets some weight relief this scale and is in well as the 106-rater. He can hit back hard.
SKYMAN – E/W
$13/$3.80 (1u/2u)
Race 5: Fred Best Classic 1400m - 2:03pm (AEST)
(2) YELLOW BRICK – best bet of the day! I’m a big fan of this bloke and I think he looks hard to beat again today. He’s had 8 starts for 6 wins and 2 minor placings to date, and he’s still on the upward spiral. He’s returned in fine order after a nice trial win where he was given a small reminder down the straight and accelerated nicely before going to the Gold Coast Guineas first-up, was very well backed, sat 3WNC the trip and still beat them all by 1.3L (LADY LAGUNA since ran well beaten a neck by GOLDEN BOOM last week). Second-up last prep he finished second behind FASHION LEGEND (also here) at Listed level when he was off the bit turning for home, ducked back to the inside and really hit the line hard. Three week freshen, gets to 1400m, draws a nice middle gate, gets in well at the weights this scale, and EF will suit. He can win again!
YELLOW BRICK – Win
