G1 Doomben 10,000 day – Set for a 9 race card with race 8 being the featured race. The rail is in the true position and selections are for a GOOD/SOFT track. Watch and monitor for any pattern if possible.
We have four free tips for Doomben below, but also have plenty more tips at various meets around the country on Saturday which you can find on our Racing Tips page.
Doomben Racing Tips – Saturday, May 13th 2023
Race 1: Breakfast With Stars C6 1200m (11:48am AEST)
(7) ARENTEE – trialed up super beating home GARIBALDI and FIFTEEN ROUNDS (won last week) about a month ago and hasn’t been seen since. Not sure if he had an issue or if he’s been kept safe for this, but I’m banking on the stable having him cherry ripe. He’s won first-up before, albeit quite some time ago, and I note Craig Williams has been booked for the ride. Draws a reasonable gate and the fav, SELF INDULGENT, will likely cross him from the gate just outside him. He'll get cover in the run and be saved for a big effort late. If they overdo it up front and the rain stays away, he’s a big danger. Happy his way.
(11) SELF INDULGENT – Handy mare who has a nice record. Was disappointing first up, but fired again LS. Cannot fault her over the trip and is unbeaten third up. Definitely one for the exotics or a saver bet.
ARENTEE - WIN
$4.60 (2 Units)
Race 2: Stradbroke Calcutta 1350M (12:23pm AEST)
(11) EKATERINA – one of only two fillies in the race who is rock hard fit being fifth-up today. Comes out of one of the key lead up races behind SPIRIT QUEEN and CHAIRMAN (also here) LS when she was forced back to last before hooking widest to just miss (hit the line hard, nice gaps behind). Three back she beat home SPIRIT QUEEN over 1200m after showing a brilliant TOF before sitting 3WWC two back in 3YO Listed Grade behind THE VOWELS (all honours the winner, second fav in the G3 Rough Habit later today). 1350m looks ideal and she finally draws a gate. She won’t have to get so far back in the run but will likely need luck at a key stage. Gets a 6kg swing on CHAIRMAN for finishing a nose behind him. Keen she runs well.
(2) ATMOSPHERE– Cummings and McDonald combo here which is always promising. Small push early. Close last two starts and will be fit enough to run a nice race. Suggest watch the market. Conditions suit.
EKATERINA - WIN
$3.20 (2 Units)
Race 6: Jra Chairmans Hcp 2000m (2:43pm AEST)
(5) LONDON BANKER – best roughie of the day! If he drew a better gate, I’d be very keen. I’m not sure where he’s going to get to in the run, but he’ll likely go back and look to slot in with some cover. He’s third-up today and is screaming for 2000m. The race book says he ran 6th LS behind SKYMAN (ties in with CEPHEUS) over the mile, but what it doesn’t show is how he had his ears scrubbed off about 500m from home before picking the bit up late and surging to the line (after being held-up inside the last 50-100m). It was a sneaky good run. He’ll be fitter today and has shown how good he is over 2000m and beyond. Jimmy Orman jumps back aboard (has a great association with him) which suits. He doesn’t want it wet and needs luck in transit. Worth a spec.
LONDON BANKER - EACH WAY
$10/$3.30 (1u/2u)
Race 8: DOOMBEN 10000 1200m (4:02pm AEST)
(8) Giga Kick - sticking with Giga Kick again. Conditions suit and unbeaten fourth up. Rock hard fit now and should be winning. Looks like a much easier affair then previous outings. Price maybe a bit short for some punters, but worth an Anchor for a multi maybe?
Giga Kick - WIN
$1.80 (4 Units)
