Some punters may have been scared off when earlier in the week Queensland Origin captain Cameron Smith came out and said the NSW team will be harder to beat without their captain Paul Gallen .
That is utter nonsense.
Gallen is a huge loss and while NSW will certainly try and compensate for that, they are just going to find it so tough to fill that hole. Smith just said that because it’s one of those things sporting figures say.
Smith told ABC News: “There's no doubt Gallen is a huge loss…He finishes the State of Origin every time he plays with 20-plus carries, he's up around the 30-tackle mark. But we've had a bit of a chat about his withdrawal. We're not taking that lightly. We don't think they are an easier side to play against because Paul Gallen is out.
Well, we do think NSW are an easier side to play against without Gallen.
While Smith did point that that NSW will now have Aaron Woods and Boyd Cordner and that NSW will overall be hungrier than ever, we don’t think this will be enough to overcome Queensland.
Also take into account Queensland’s overall dominance of NSW over the years and we think they will continue that trend here and be too strong. It’s going to be a cracking game either way, but Queensland should win and in the end, win easy enough to cover the line.
While the below is my betting tip for the game. There’s a great ‘Man of the Match’ offer that can’t be missed, along with a head-to-head money back offer which may be especially enticing to those who think it’s going to be a close game. They are both great value and you should take a look at them before you bet on this game.
Bet On: Queensland -4.5 ($1.94) at Sportsbet
