AFL Round 13 Preview & Betting Tips
Western Bulldogs vs Port Adelaide
Friday 7:50pm AEST, June 9th, Marvel Stadium
The King’s Birthday clash on Monday is the marquee game of AFL Round 13, but Friday night’s Western Bulldogs vs Port Adelaide matchup is certainly one to get excited about.
The Bulldogs will be desperate to bounce back from a two-game slide with a win in front of their home fans, particularly after letting them down last weekend when they lost to the injury-depleted Cats.
They looked full of steam in the first half against the reigning premiers in what was a high-scoring game, but that changed after the main break as they managed just two majors in the second half – none in the final frame.
Regardless of recent slipups, the Dogs have had a positive first half of the season and remain inside the top eight with a 7-5 record, and a strong fortnight of footy before their Round 15 bye would set them up nicely for a top four push.
Meanwhile, the Power look destined for a top four finish – at least on current form. After starting the season 1-2 and under pressure to perform, the Power have reeled off nine straight wins – a club record.
The Power had the luxury of playing bruise free footy against the Hawks last weekend. That match was over after 10 minutes as the Power threatened to post their biggest ever score since joining the AFL.
However, this Friday’s fixture against the Bulldogs will be a significantly tougher test and is one where they could get jumped early if they’re not switched on from the outset.
In fact, jumping teams early is something the Bulldogs have done very well in recent matches – they’ve won the first quarter in each of their last five matches.
On the contrary, the Power have finished games well, with four of the last five fourth quarters going their way.
This leads me to believe we could be in for a see-sawing affair on Friday night with the Dogs being the fast starters and the Power being the better closers.

Connor Rozee 25+ Disposals – His form has gone a little under the radar due to Butters taking all the headlines. Rozee has four straight games of 25+ disposals and should get to that mark again here.
Sam Powell-Pepper 1+ Goals – Has kicked a goal in nine matches this season and loves playing at Marvel. Has kicked 2+ in his last two games at the venue.
Jamarra Ugle-Hagan 2+ Goals – Has had eight shots at goal in the past two weeks and should get plenty more in a fast-paced match on Friday night. He’s the value leg.
