AFL Round 12 Preview & Betting Tips
GWS vs Richmond
GIANTS Stadium, Sunday 1:10pm (AEST)
The Tigers have lost their last two games on the trot to fall to 15th place on the ladder. They were unable to get the job done for new caretaker coach Andrew MacQualter in his first game at the helm on the weekend, going down to the Power by 17 points at the MCG.
The Tigers are without a few of their key players through injury, including Tom Lynch, Robbie Tarrant, Ivan Soldo, Nick Vlaustin, Jacob Hopper and Maurice Rioli Jr. They won’t make any changes to their line-up heading into the Round 12 clash.
The Giants snapped a three game losing streak as they captured a fantastic win against the Cats at GMHBA Stadium in Round 11. Giants skipper Toby Greene was fantastic in the win, booting four goals while star midfielder Tom Green continued his fantastic season with 38 touches and 108 ranking points.
The Giants have injury concerns of their own, with the likes of Josh Kelly, Braydon Preuss, Sam Taylor, Jacob Wehr and Adam Kennedy all out of the lineup for this clash. They made just one change for the clash, with star swingman Harry Himmelberg returning from injury at the expense of James Peatling.
The GIants start as slight favourites at home and I’m leaning towards them in this one. They have been the more competitive side of the two over the last month. Despite their 1-3 record over their last four games, they were in the contest until the dying moments in their losses to the Bulldogs and Saints.
The Giants have won their last five games in a row against the Tigers at home, a streak spanning all the way back to 2014. Back them to get the job done here at decent odds.
