Round 3 in the AFL has been an exciting one so far and the action continues on Saturday afternoon as the Bombers host the Saints from Marvel Stadium at 4.35pm. PuntingInDanger has been seeing them well so far this season and will be looking for more winners as he provides his preview and betting tips below.
AFL Bombers vs Saints Betting Tips
Marvel Stadium, Saturday April 3rd 4.35pm (AEDT)
Both the Bombers and Saints will be looking to bounce back from disappointing losses in Round 2, with the Saints going down to the Demons and Bombers falling to the Power in humiliating fashion.
Match Prediction
If the Saints are to be the top six contenders that some experts have tipped them to be this season, they have to bounce back in a big way here. They were super impressive in Round 1 against the Giants in sloppy Sydney conditions but were simply outplayed by Demons under the Marvel roof last week which has become sort of a fortress for the Saints over the past few seasons.
A pretty big injury list is the only thing that the Saints could possibly blame for their performance last week against the Dees. They were without Jimmy Webster, Brad Crouch, Rowan Marshall, Paddy Ryder, Dan Hannebery, Jarryn Geary, Ben Paton and James Frawley in the loss and of those players, only Brad Crouch looks to be coming back into the side this week.
Jake Carlisle still can’t get a game, which is a bit odd considering he was one of the Saints best players last season and they are without a few defenders in the likes of Paton, Webster, Frawley and Geary.
The Bombers have plenty of injury concerns of their own at the moment as well. Michael Hurley, Dylan Clarke, Sam Draper, Jye Caldwell, Dylan Shiel and James Stewart will all miss on Saturday which will make it tough for the Bombers to secure their first win of the season.
I think the Saints win here, but can they cover a pretty hefty 23.5 point line given how they’ve looked last week? I’m inclined to think they can cover the line, but I’m more interested in the over. The Saints were nowhere near their attacking best last week against the Demons and they still put up a combined 164 points at Marvel. Both teams play a pretty attacking style and Marvel is prone to fast pace footy and high scores. Back the over here.

Darcy Parish has had a bit of a slow start to the season in terms of accumulating disposals with just 18 and 16 in his first two games. He should get more time in the midfield on Saturday with Dylan Shiel and Jye Caldwell both out of the line-up. Look for him to capitalise on this and rack up 25+

Mason Wood looks like he is finally going to get a game after being the injury sub in Round 1 and being named as an emergency in Round 2. The swingman should play predominantly forward and allow Josh Battle to get up on the wing. Kicked 4 goals in the practice match against the Roos and should be in the action. Great value to bag 2+ on Saturday.
