AFL GWS vs Carlton Betting Tips
GIANTS Stadium, Saturday 7.25pm (AEST)
The Giants and Blues are two teams that had expectations coming into the 2021 season but have, at times, greatly failed to deliver, making this Saturday night clash an interesting one to tune into.
Match Prediction
The Giants had a golden opportunity to capture an easy win over the bottom side in the competition last week, the Kangaroos, and catapult themselves into top eight contention. Instead, they were outplayed for the majority of the game and did well to salvage a draw in the dying minutes, one they’ll be extremely disappointed by.
The good thing for the Giants is that their injury list is gradually getting shorter. Granted, they’ll still be without the likes of Stephen Coniglio, Brent Daniels, Jesse Hogan, Lachie Keefe, Braydon Preuss and Sam Taylor, but they could get talented midfielder Harry Perryman back this week.
Where to start with the Blues? At times they have looked decent this season but when it boils down to it, they have really only beaten the teams that they were supposed to, and lost to the teams that they were supposed to. Seven of their eight losses have come against top eight sides and all of their wins have come against bottom eight sides.
It makes this game pretty tough to pick, because the Giants sit right on the precipus of the eight and these two teams look pretty evenly matched on paper. The Blues will be sweating on the fitness of star forward Harry McKay, who went out of the loss to the Eagles with a concussion, while Nic Newman and Michael Gibbons could also make a return this week.
This game has the feeling of a close one from start to finish, and both teams have been involved in plenty of close games already this season. I think this one has plenty of lead changes and we see the ‘Any Other Result’ in the wire-to-wire market salute.

Getting some good odds for Harry Perryman to come into this Giants side and have an impact. The midfielder has played just six games this season but has surpassed the 20 disposal mark in four of them and averages a very healthy 22.7. Tim Taranto has had 25+ disposals in every game this season, I certainly don’t expect that streak to be broken here. Toby Greene to boot 2+ goals is the last leg of the multi. He has kicked one in each of his last two games so will be keen to have more of an impact here.
