2021 AFL Round 11 Port Adelaide vs Fremantle Tips
Adelaide Oval, Sunday 30th May 5:20pm (AEST)
Both the Power and the Dockers are coming off extremely narrow wins in Round 10 and will be looking to secure another crucial four points on Sunday at Adelaide Oval. The Power will start as the heavy favourites, giving up a 28.5-point start in the handicap market.
Match Prediction
Port Adelaide will be looking for a better start than the one they had against Collingwood last week, which nearly cost them the four points. The Power were able to rally hard in the last quarter to eventually win by one point, but it was all a little too close for comfort against a bottom four side. All is well that ends well however, with the Power moving to 7-3 on the season.
The Power don’t have the longest of injury lists nearing the midway point of the season, but they are missing some key personnel. Zak Butters, Tom Clurey and Xavier Duursma, all of whom are firmly in their team’s best 22, are expected to miss at least the next month of football.
Fremantle are coming off a morale-boosting win over Sydney that brought them back to level on the season ledger at 5-5. A loss last weekend would’ve made it four defeats in a row, which is enough to derail their season, but instead they’re knocking on the door of the top eight as they currently sit in 10th spot on the ladder.
The Dockers have had a better run than most in terms of injuries this season and are only missing a couple of fringe players from their side at the moment. Hayden Young is perhaps their best player sitting on the sidelines as he continues to work himself back from a bad hamstring injury.
Fremantle had the wood over Port Adelaide for a number of years, but that is no longer the case as the Power have won each of the last two and four of the last six meetings with the Dockers. On top of that, the Power have won each of their last four at home in this matchup, all of which have been by at least 40 points. We’re expecting something similar again here with the Power running out really comfortable winners at Adelaide Oval.
