As you can imagine, there will be no full slate of betting tips this week, but we’ll be providing a preview and our tips for the 2019 All-Star game. Take into account, that the All-Star game mostly a novelty event, so it can be unpredictable at the best of times.
2019 MLB All-Star Game Betting Tips
Wednesday, 10th July, 9.30am (AEST)
As always, the best of the American League will face off against the best of the National League in the All-Star game, with the 2019 edition set to be played from Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. The game will get underway at 9.30am (AEST) on Wednesday and promises to be an exciting matchup!
American League
The American League All-Stars will be led by a host of players from the conference leading Houston Astros. Third baseman Alex Bregman will start in the field while outfielders George Springer and Michael Brantley also earnt All-Star selection in the starting line-up. Alongside them will be a pitchers Gerrit Cole, Ryan Pressly and Justin Verlander, who will start for the American League for the first time in his career.
Replacement pitchers for the American League is a star studded line-up which includes Alodis Chapman, Jose Berros, Lucas Giolito, Shane Greene, Brad Hand, John Means, Mike Minor, Charlie Morton, Jake Ordorizzi and Marcus Stroman. Seven of the replacements will be playing in their first All-Star game.
National League
There are plenty more multiple time All-Stars playing for the Natioanl Leauge, particularly in the bull-pen. The 2019 starting pitcher, LA Dodger Hyun-Jin Ryu, will be making his first appearance, but there will be plenty of experience coming behind him. Jacob deGrom (3), Sonny Gray (2), Zack Greinke (6), Josh Hader (2), Max Scherzer (7) and Clayton Kershaw (8) will headline the pitchers coming out of the bullpen.
The Dodgers, who have a league best 60-32 record through the first half of the MLB season, have a total of five players representing the National League, with Cody Bellinger and Max Muncy set to make an appearance in the field.
Prediction
Always tough to pick a winner of the All-Star game. Since they stopped playing off for home-field advantage in the World Series, the whole thing has become a bit of a novelty affair. However, we do think the National League side does look a bit stronger on paper, and they are the underdogs! Happy to have a small wager on them here.
