Friday night NRL action begins in Newcastle as the Knights host the Rabbitohs. The Knights are coming off a comeback win over the Sea Eagles and will be looking for another upset in a crucial home matchup, but the Rabbitohs are 9-1 against the Knights since 2010. Meanwhile in the second match, the NRL returns to Bathurst with the Panthers up against the Cowboys. The Panthers thrashed them 33-14 already this season so they’ll be looking for another victory on Friday.
For something a little different we thought we’d take a look at the NRL daily fantasy offerings on PlayON this Friday and provide you with a few of our best daily fantasy tips to help you construct your NRL DFS lineups.
PlayON offer a range of NRL fantasy contests you can jump into for a wide range of budgets. They also run regular qualifiers for the season-ending $25,000 NRL Super Contest! Qualify this weekend and book your seat at the big one!
Outside Backs - Alex Johnston $17.8m
If you’re looking for a player that loves playing the Knights then Rabbitohs fullback Alex Johnston is your man. In his last five matches against them, he has scored a huge total of ten tries! This season, he’s coming off back-to-back tries against the Broncos and Raiders, which has netted 1,000+ points in the last two weeks. So Johnston should be one of your first choices in the outside backs.
Outside Backs - Kalyn Ponga $17.6m
Kalyn Ponga has been massively consistent in 2018 and it’s hard to see that stopping on Friday. He hasn’t scored under 1,000 points this season and is averaging 1,305 points per game. He’s easily the best tackle breaker in the league, plays 80 minutes and doesn’t make many errors. So he’s very good value in the outside backs.
Half back - James Maloney $18.5m
James Maloney is the most expensive halfback, but for good reason. He’s coming off 1,375 points last week and can potentially score 1,700+. He also dominated the Cowboys in the last matchup, scoring 1,530 fantasy points. His scores are helped by his goal kicking and he’s also run for over 100+ metres in his last three matches. He’ll be looking to out-play Thurston and I can see another 1,500+ from Maloney this Friday.
Forward (Value) - Viliame Kikau $11.7m
In the forwards, I think Kikau and Ese'ese are the two best picks at around the $11m mark, but I will side with Kikau, mainly because he scored 1,395 points against the Cowboys in the last match-up. He has scored 1,000+ points in six straight matches, he plays 80 minutes and can find the try line.
Forward (Cheap) - Luke Yates $7.5m
For a cheap forward option, Luke Yates is a nice pick. He scored 800 last week and 655 previously. He played five extra minutes last week so hopefully the coaches are liking his form off the bench. He’s a solid tackler and earns a good amount of run metres points.
