Great week in MLB betting tips last Thursday as we hit on all three tips to move to take our season tally to 24-14. We’ll look to continue our good form this Thursday, the 2nd of August as we take a look at some of the key games in the 12 game slate.
MLB Betting Tips Thursday 2nd August
New York Mets at Washington Nationals (2.05am AEST)
The Nats made history on Wednesday against the Mets when they secured a monster 25-4 win in the first game of the two-game series. Washington plundered seven runs in the first innings before exploding for three runs in each of the next four innings before finishing the game with a casual six run eighth inning. Their bats have been on fire of late and they’ll look to continue to earn wins as they currently sit just 5 games behind Philly in the NL East.
Tommy Milone will be on the mound for the Nats as he fills in for the injured Stephen Strasburg. He was serviceable last week in his first start in seven years for the Nats, allowing just three runs through six innings.
He’ll be up against Noah Syndergaard on Thursday who has been sidelined for the past two weeks due to an infection. He has been great so far this season with a 6-1 record and a 2.89 ERA, but in his first game back in nearly two weeks and with the form the Nats bats are in at the moment we have to side with Washington.
Houston Astros at Seattle Mariners (6.10am AEST)
The Astros still sit on top of the AL West standings with a 68-41 record but have lost six of their last 10 games. Dallas Keuchel will be back on the mound on Thursday and has a pretty poor record against the Mariners in 2018. Through two starts against the Mariners, Keuchel is 0-2 with a 5.52 ERA.
Wade LeBlanc will be on the mound for the Mariners Thursday and has a 6-1 record with a 3.34 ERA since moving into the starting rotation for Seattle a few months ago. Seattle can move closer to claiming the top spot in the AL West with a win here, as they currently sit 4 games behind the Astros.
Tough game to call here, the Astros start as $1.73 farourites but Seattle have been fantastic at home this year with a 35-20 record. I like LeBlanc to continue his impressive form and claim the win here.
Milwaukee Brewers at Los Angeles Dodgers (12.10pm AEST)
The Brewers currently have more wins than their NL Central rivals the Chicago Cubs but due to the winning percentage sit in second place in the division. They have won seven of their last 10 games and will have Chase Anderson on the mound on Thursday.
Anderson has been lights out recently, allowing just two or fewer runs in all of his last seven starts. He is maintaining a 1.93 ERA throughout that time and is 7-7 on the season. Milwaukee took the first two games of this four-game series and will be looking to take a 3-0 lead on Thursday.
Rich Hill has a 2-0 record with a 0.63 ERA in his last three starts but is recently removed from a stint on the disabled list. I like the Brewers to continue to roll here with their ace on the mound.
