Another 1-2 day in our MLB Thursday betting tips last week takes our season tally to 15-11. We’ll be looking to get back on the winners list this week as we preview some of the key games of the day this Thursday, the 28th of June and give our betting tips below.
MLB Betting Tips Thursday 28th June
Toronto Blue Jays at Houston Astros (4.10am AEST)
The Astros have won 7 of their last 10 games and currently sit atop the AL West division with a 53-28 record, which is also the equal best record in all of baseball at the moment. The starting rotation has been absolutely dominant so far this year, with Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole and Charlie Morton all in the running for the AL Cy Young award.
The forgotten starter of the Astros line-up this year has arguably been Dallas Keuchel, who had a dominant 2017 season but has been a little underdone this year, currently maintaining a 4-8 record with a 3.90 ERA. He’ll be up against Blue Jays starter Marco Estrada on Thursday who has also had a pretty ordinary season so far, but has bounced back in the month of June, maintaining a 1.75 ERA through four consecutive quality starts.
Estrada’s form makes this an interesting matchup for sure, however, the Astros bats have just been to dominant lately to stray away from them, especially at home. The Astros smashed the Blue Jays 7-0 on Wednesday and I expect Houston to get another win at home here.

Los Angeles Angels at Boston Red Sox (9.10am AEST)
The Red Sox have fallen off the pace a touch over the past few weeks, winning just five of their last 10 games and falling to second in the AL East division behind their rivals, the New York Yankees. They’ll face the Angels in the middle game of a three game series after they were dominant in a 9-1 victory on Wednesday which looked to get some of their struggling bats back into form.
Rick Porcello will be on the mound on Thursday for the Sox after allowing just one hit and one walk through seven innings in his last start. He is 9-3 on the season so far and will be up against Andrew Heaney of the Angels, who has been inconsistent so far in 2018.
Heaney was good the last time he faced the Red Sox, allowing two runs through seven innings back in 2015, but the Red Sox bats looked ominous on Wednesday in their 9-1 win and should be able to earn a win at home.
Boston Red Sox -1.5 runs

Chicago Cubs at Los Angeles Dodgers (12.10pm AEST)
The Cubs and Dodgers will play the third of a four game series on Thursday with the series score tied at one game apiece. Kyle Hendricks will be on the mound for the Cubs and will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing performance in his last start. He walked four betters and allowed four runs through almost six innings last week and has a 4.78 ERA against the Dodgers through three starts.
Alex Wood, who was fantastic in the Dodgers run to the World Series playoffs last season, has also been a little lacklustre so far this season. He currently has a 3-5 record with a 4.13 ERA and also struggled in his last outing.
The Dodgers plundered 4 runs against Jon Lester on Wednesday and although it was in a loss, their batting line-up looked solid. I expect them to bounce back and earn the home win here.
Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 runs
