We had a week off from MLB betting tips last weekend for the All Star festivities but we are back this Thursday and looking to improve on our season tally which currently sits at 21-14. See our preview and tips for the key games of the day this Thursday, the 26th of July.
MLB Betting Tips Thursday 26th July
New York Yankees at Tampa Bay Rays (2.10am AEST)
This three-game series is tied at one a piece heading into the third game in Tampa Bay on Thursday. New York were 4-0 winners on Wednesday as Masahiro Tanaka picked up the win. Luis Cessa will be on the mound for the Yankees for just his third Major League start of the season. The youngster has been impressive in the Triple A so far this season, going 3-1 with a 1.82 ERA.
He’ll be up against Nathan Eovaldi on Thursday who has been great in the last month. He has allowed two or fewer runs in four of his last five starts but boasts just a 3-4 record. Longevity is the key for Eovaldi, however, with the starter pitching at least six innings in six of his last seven starts.
The Yankees bats looked good on Thursday but with a relatively unknown quantity in Luis Cessa on the mound and the Rays holding the home court advantage we have to side with Tampa here.
Minnesota Twins at Toronto Blue Jays (6am AEST)
Minnesota currently sit 7.5 games behind the American League Central leaders Cleveland and will be looking to sweep their three-game series against the Blue Jays before moving on to Boston on Friday. Twins ace Ervin Santana will make his long awaited season debut on Thursday after successfully recovering from a finger injury that has kept him out of action since February.
The Blue Jays are well behind Boston in the American League East standings and will now just be hoping to salvage some respectable moments in the remainder of the season. Sam Gaviglio will be on the mound Thursday and will be looking to improve on an impressive start in his last outing. He went 7 2/3 innings against the Orioles last week.
Tough to get a read on this game with Santana making his first start of the season. He was serviceable in his minor league tune up games but will likely be limited in this game. We still like the Twins to post the win, however.
Boston Red Sox at Baltimore Orioles (9.05am AEST)
The Red Sox continue to roll in the 2018 season, currently sitting 5.5 games clear of the Yankees on top of the AL East division and have won 8 of their last 10 games. David Price was lights out in his last start, pitching over 6 shutout innings against the Tigers for a win. He has been on fire lately and has an 11-6 record on the season so far.
Dylan Bundy will be on the mound for the home team Orioles on Thursday and will be hoping to bounce back after a disappointing July so far. He has a 4.57 ERA so far this season and has picked up wins in just 6 of his 19 starts in 2018.
Hard to look past the dominance of the Red Sox batting line up at the moment with some great support from an in form Price.
