We are 2-0 in our cricket betting tips so far this Summer as we picked South Africa to win the first ODI and Australia to claim the second. We take a look at game three of the series and give our betting tips below.
Australia vs South Africa ODI Game 3 Betting Tips
After winning the first ODI in Perth the South Africans, interestingly, changed their lineup for the second game in Adelaide. They dropped bowling all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo in favour of Dwaine Pretorius. It’s hard to say the change didn’t work, as Pretorius claimed an impressive 3-32 off his 10 overs. However, the Australian batsmen were much more competitive in Game 2 as they compiled a defendable total of 231.
The South Africans were travelling well in their run chase at 1/46 before a sloppy piece of running opened the door for a brilliant Marcus Stoinis run out. The wicket opened the door for the Austrlians, who went on to take the next two wickets for just 20 runs. Marcus Stoinis was the pick of the bowling group, claiming 3-35 of his 10 overs as the Australians held on for a thrilling 7 run victory.
Australia’s batting line-up could see some changes heading into the third game, as opener Travis Head has now failed twice at the top of the order. Natural opener D’Arcy Short could return to the lineup after being dropped for Game 2 in favour of Shaun Marsh. Chris Lynn also has experience opening, and could be promoted up the order with Head potentially dropping down to four or out of the side completely.
Adam Zampa’s spot in the side could come under some speculation. The spinner bowled well below average in Game 2, going for 57 wicketless runs off nine overs. Ashton Agar is in the squad and looks the ready-made replacement for Zampa.
Australia come into the game as hot $1.59 favourites, which we think is unwarranted considering they have batted first in both games so far and made measley totals of 152 and 231. It took a phenominal bowling effort to win game two with just over 200 runs on the board and the Proteas still came within just seven runs.
The Hobart deck should offer a little more life than Adelaide did, especially for fast bowlers so South Africa’s quicks should be brought right back into the game. At $2.36, we think they travelling side are great value here.
