Defenders: Caleb Marchbank, Adam Kennedy
Marchbank looked to get back into his scoring ways last weekend against the Hawks, racking up 78 points in the massive loss. Better matchup for him this weekend against the Suns who allow the most points to defenders of any team in the competition. Expect Marchbank to continue to improve here as he works his way back into that quarterback role off half back.
Adam Kennedy will have an absolute field day this weekend against the Saints, who love to bomb it in long with no plan in mind. Was good against Port Adelaide last weekend with 63 points on just 15 touches but should rack up more marks this weekend against the Saints, who allow the fifth most points to backs.
Midfield: Patrick Cripps, Josh Kelly, Tim Taranto, Josh Caddy
Cripps and Kelly are locks this weekend against underwhelming opponents. There is a big chance that Carlton still lose to the Suns on the weekend, but it should be one of their better scoring games regardless. Cripps had 116 points against the Hawks last weekend in a 72-point loss so should be a mortal lock for a ton this weekend against the Suns, who allow 116 points to top three midfielders per game.
Since returning from a seven game injury in Round 10, Kelly has not dropped under the 88 point mark and has scores of 166, 138, 107 and 115 in that time. The 115 came against a tough opponent in Port Adelaide last weekend. Has a lighter run this weekend against the Saints and should score heavily.
Taranto is a part of the semi GWS stack here. We think they should dominate the scoring on Saturday and has been fantastic this year, averaging 88 points and racking up five scores over 100. Caddy is a hopeful point of difference here. There’s something about him ad his ability to perform in big games at the MCG that I like this weekend. Racked up 102 points including four goals against the Pies earlier this season and should be value here.
Forwards: Toby Greene, Quinton Narkle
Greene has looked ominous in his two games back from injury and looks ready to explode this weekend against the Saints. No Patton and No Cameron for one more week means that Greene will heave free reign in the forward line and likely get the majority of the supply. GWS midfield will absolutely punish the Saints so there should be plenty of opportunity for Greene, who as scored 61 and 56 in his two games back so far but is capable of much more.
Everyone was on the Quinton Narkle train after his debut game yielded a score of 88 points, however, he has since gone off the boil a bit with scores of 36, 57 and 32 in his last three. Gets a good matchup against the Lions this weekend and should be a decent point of difference.
Ruck: Stefan Martin
Opting to stay away from the Gawn-Grundy duel this weekend and head towards Stefan Martin who has the extremely favourable matchup against Rhys Stanley. Should absolutely body the smaller Stanley and in my opinion is more of a lock for a ton than the two more expensive ruckman.
